Umeå East Station
Umeå East Station (Swedish: ''Umeå Östra'') is a railway station in Umeå, Sweden. The station was opened on 7 August 2010, with King Carl XVI Gustaf officially opening the station on 28 August. It was built in connection with the construction of the Bothnia Line (''Botniabanan'') to Umeå. It is one of the two stations serving Umeå, the other being the older Umeå Central Station which is located 2 km to the west. For a year after its opening, East Station was the sole station serving Umeå as Central Station was closed during this time for renovation. East Station is located close to the Umeå University and the University Hospital of Umeå. The Building The blueprint of Umeå East Station was proposed by Lennart Sjögren of White arkitekter with NCC AB financing the project. Haparanda (; fi, Haaparanta, , aspen shore or bank) is a locality and the seat of Haparanda Municipality in Norrbotten County, Sweden. It is adjacent to Tornio, Finland. Haparanda had a population of 4,856 in 2010, out of a municipal total of 10,200 inhabitants. Haparanda is, despite its small population, for historical reasons often still referred to as a ''city''. Statistics Sweden, however, only counts localities with more than 10,000 inhabitants as cities. Boden, Sweden
Boden (, outdatedly ) is a locality and the seat of Boden Municipality in Norrbotten County, Sweden with 16,847 inhabitants in 2018. It is part of the larger area around coastal city Luleå some southeast. After Kiruna, it is the second largest town in Northern Sweden's interior. History The town of Boden started as a railway junction where the Northern Line (''Norra stambanan'', opened 1894) met with the Ore Line (''Malmbanan'') from the rich iron ore fields in northern Sweden. Main Line Through Upper Norrland
The Main Line Through Upper Norrland ( sv, Stambanan genom övre Norrland) is a long railway line between Bräcke, Jämtland County and Boden, Norrbotten County in Sweden. For military and regional policy reasons, it was built in very sparsely populated areas, far away from the more densely populated coast. The line has several branches to settlements on the coast, the ones to Umeå and Luleå being considered part of the line itself. Today the three largest settlements along the line are Boden (population 18,800), Älvsbyn (population 5,500) and Vännäs (population 4,100). In 2010, the Bothnia Line opened, which parallels the Main Line Through Upper Norrland along the coast from Sundsvall to Umeå. From 2013 all passenger traffic moved from the Main Line to the Bothnia Line, ending service between along the section between Bräcke and Vännäs. Norrtåg
Norrtåg (English: Northern Trains) is a publicly owned company which is owned by Norrbotten County, Västerbotten County, Västernorrland County and Jämtland County in Sweden. The company owns passenger trains and organises passenger train operation. Norrtåg controls ticket sales and contracts an operator which handles actual train operation (staff and permits). The trains are operated under the brand name Norrtåg. Norrtåg started operation in 2010 on the brand new railway Botniabanan, and in 2011 it took over the until then branded Mittnabotåget services. Trains were operated by Botniatåg (an SJ AB / DB Regio joint venture) until 20 August 2016, when Tågkompaniet (now Vy Tåg) took over the franchise. Kiruna Station is an ESTRACK radio antenna station for communication with spacecraft operated by the Swedish Space Corporation. It is located 38 km east of Kiruna, Sweden. Narvik Station
Narvik is a railway station located in Narvik Municipality in Nordland, Norway on the Ofoten Line. The station is located in the town of Narvik, about from the line terminus at the Port of Narvik. It is served by three daily passenger trains from, respectively, Kiruna, Luleå and Stockholm in Sweden. These passenger services are currently operated by Vy.
