A3 Basket is a women's basketball club in Umeå, Sweden. The club was established with the 2012 squad from KFUM Umeå women's basketball section "Umeå Comets" after the club had decided to discontinue their women's team. A new club was formed under the name Umeå BasketBollklubb (Umeå BBK). The 2017–18 Basketligan season was the 25th season of the Basketligan, the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 6 October 2017 and finished in May 2018. Luleå was the defending champion, but failed to repeat as they lost in the last game of the finals to Norrköping Dolphins, that achieved their fifth title ever. Competition format The participating teams first played a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent four times for a total of 28 games. Basketettan Dam
Basketettan is the third tier league of professional basketball in Sweden. Until 2017, it was the second-tier league before it was replaced by Superettan. The winner of each Basketettan season is promoted to Superettan. Background From 2013, Basketettan was played during Swedish fall with the best teams qualifying for Superettan in the spring.
