History The company was first located at the 400 acre ‘Barree Stud’ in Willowmavin, NE Victoria, which served as a breeding, spelling and pre-training centre. As development progressed, Barree was turned into a pre-training, spelling and rehabilitation centre. During this process, the company's breeding operations were relocated to the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, where other major Australian and international breeding operations are based. Shamus Award (horse)
Shamus Award (foaled 2010) is an Australian thoroughbred racehorse, and winner of the 2013 Cox Plate. He is notable for being the only horse in the history of the race to win it as a maiden. Shamus Award was sired by Snitzel (horse), Snitzel out of Sunset Express and was trained by Danny O'Brien (racehorse trainer), Danny O'Brien. Early career Shamus Award made his racing debut at Moonee Valley Racecourse on the same day as the 2012 Cox Plate running 3rd in a two year old's race. He placed 3rd in his next two races before entering his first Group One race, the 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes where as a 100/1 shot he ran an eye catching 5th. During the 2013 Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival Shamus Award ran 2nd first up before putting in a poor seventh. Moonee Valley Racecourse, currently marketed as The Valley, is a horse-racing track in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, Victoria Australia. History Moonee Valley Racecourse was established in 1883 by William Samuel (W.S.) Cox, who purchased a farm the previous year belonging to John F. Feehan for the purpose of establishing a racetrack. Flemington Racecourse is a major horse racing venue located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Nature Strip (foaled 16 November 2014) is an Australian Thoroughbred racehorse who was the 2020 and 2022 Australian Champion Racehorse of the Year, a nine-time Group 1 winner, and the winner of The Everest in 2021, the richest turf race in the world. Background Nature Strip was passed in for $90,000 at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling sale and sent to trainer Robert Smerdon by breeders Golden Grove Farm.
