Uli Grötsch
Uli Grötsch (born 14 July 1975) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Bavaria since 2013. Political career Grötsch first became a member of the Bundestag in the 2013 German federal election. He is a member of the Committee on Home Affairs. In 2014, he also joined the Parliamentary Oversight Panel (Germany), Parliamentary Oversight Panel (PKGr), which provides parliamentary oversight of Germany's intelligence services Federal Intelligence Service (Germany), BND, Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, BfV and Militärischer Abschirmdienst, MAD. Since 2018, Grötsch has been part of a cross-party working group on a reform of Germany’s Electoral system of Germany, electoral system, chaired by Wolfgang Schäuble. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag. The members of the Bundestag are representatives of the German people as a whole, are not bound by any orders or instructions and are only accountable to their electorate.
