Ukrainian Society For Interlingua
The Ukrainian Interlingua Society (Societate Ukrainian pro Interlingua, SUI), works in Ukraine to promote the knowledge and active use of Interlingua. It supports the work of the Russian representative of the Union Mundial pro Interlingua. The society was founded in 1994 by Jurij Cherednikov Jurij Cherednikov (born 1964) is a Ukrainian-American author and software engineer. He was the first representative of the Union Mundial pro Interlingua in Ukraine and co-founder of the Ukrainian Interlingua Society. He was born in Odessa to a f ..., a Specialist in Computational Engineering; Victor Sitnichenko, Vice Director of the Institute of Scientific Research of Tools; and Victor Chebotar, docent of French Philology at the University of Odessa. Interlingua
Interlingua (; ISO 639 language codes ia, ina) is an international auxiliary language (IAL) developed between 1937 and 1951 by the American International Auxiliary Language Association (IALA). It ranks among the most widely used IALs and is the most widely used naturalistic IAL – in other words, those IALs whose vocabulary, grammar, and other characteristics are derived from natural languages, rather than being centrally planned. Interlingua literature maintains that (written) Interlingua is comprehensible to the hundreds of millions of people who speak Romance languages, though it is actively spoken by only a few hundred. Union Mundial Pro Interlingua
The Union Mundial pro Interlingua (UMI; World Interlingua Union) is a global organization that promotes Interlingua, an international auxiliary language (IAL) published in 1951 by the International Auxiliary Language Association (IALA). UMI was founded on July 28, 1955, when the first International Interlingua Congress took place in Tours, France. The UMI collaborates with the national Interlingua organizations and has a hand in publishing dictionaries, grammars and tutorials. It is a non-profit organization that now operates out of Bilthoven, Netherlands. Jurij Cherednikov
Jurij Cherednikov (born 1964) is a Ukrainian-American author and software engineer. He was the first representative of the Union Mundial pro Interlingua in Ukraine and co-founder of the Ukrainian Interlingua Society. He was born in Odessa to a family of doctors. In 1981, he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Odessa with a Diploma of Honor in Computational Engineering, becoming a specialist in that field.
