Ukrainian rock ( uk, Український рок) is rock music from Ukraine. While it is rock it is important for those who follow Ukrainian contemporary music to understand the VIA music scene of the 1970s and 1980s. This controlled form of music, was a response to the Rock and roll infiltrating from the outside of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, to understand the development of Ukrainian rock one has to understand its background. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Chanson

Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture. The blues form is ubiquitous in jazz, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, and is characterized by the call-and-response pattern (the blues scale and specific chord progressions) of which the twelve-bar blues is the most common. Blue notes (or "worried notes"), usually thirds, fifths or sevenths flattened in pitch, are also an essential part of the sound. Opalnyi Prynz
Opalnyi Prynz ( uk, Опальний Принц) was an influential and popular Ukraine, Ukrainian folk-rock, Ukrainian rock band; the band which came out of musical project called Strus Mozku ( uk, Струс Мозку), or 'Brain Concussion', in English, which started in 1987 when Rostyslav Shtyn's younger brother Yuriy Shtyn relocated to Lviv, Ukraine after completing his studies at the conservatory in Rivne. The Strus Mozku project included the following individuals: both Shtyn brothers, Roman Brytsky, Boris Rosenthul and a young actress from the Maria Zankovetska Theatre, Zankovetska Theatre in Lviv, by the name of Lyudmila Razik.
