Ujjain District
Ujjain district is a district of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. The historic city of Ujjain is the district headquarters. The district has an area of 6,091 km², and a population of 19,86,864 (2011 census), a 16.12% increase from its 2001 population of 17,10,982. Geography The district is bounded by the districts of Agar malwa to the north, Shajapur to the east, Dewas to the southeast, Indore to the south, Dhar to the southwest, and Ratlam to the west and northwest. The district is part of Ujjain Division. Rivers and lakes The main river is the Shipra river, a tributary of the Chambal river in the east. Kavi Pradeep (born Ramchandra Narayanji Dwivedi; 6 February 1915 – 11 December 1998), was an Indian poet and songwriter who is best known for his patriotic song "''Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo"'' written as a tribute to the soldiers who had died defending the country during the Sino-Indian War. His first recognition came for his patriotic lyrics for the film '' Bandhan'' (1940). Ghanshyam Das Birla (10 April 1894 – 11 June 1983) was an Indian businessman and member of the Birla Family. Birla family history Ghanshyam Das Birla was born on 10 April 1894 at Pilani town in Jhunjhunu district, in the region known as Rajputana, as a member of the Marwari Maheshwari community. Nagda
Nagda is an industrial town in Ujjain district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It lies in the administrative headquarters of the city of Ujjain, in the Malwa region of western Madhya Pradesh. Malwa is a historical region of west-central India occupying a plateau of volcanic origin. Geologically, the Malwa Plateau generally refers to the volcanic upland north of the Vindhya Range. Kahn River
The Kanh river is a river flowing through Indore, the commercial capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The river does not carry freshwater, and turned into sewage during the early 90s. Efforts are being made to restore the river. The river, along with the Saraswati River, is a part of the Smart City Indore project, and a riverfront spanning 3.9 kilometres has already been developed along the river. Both the rivers are being rejuvenated under the Smart Cities Mission. Pollution and environmental concerns Kanh has turned into a sewage dumpyard, where many industries have been dumping solid as well as liquid wastes into it, since the rapid industrialisation in the 70s.
