Netball was one of the ten core sports at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which was held on the Gold Coast in Australia. This was the sixth staging of netball at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1998, and the second time the netball event was held in Australia. Ronald Musagala (born 16 December 1992 in Iganga) is a Ugandan middle-distance and long-distance runner. At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, he bowed out in the semi-finals of the 800 metres. He finished eighth in the 800 metres at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He competed in the 1500 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing but without advancing from the first round. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Musagala holds the national record in the 1500 metres. Akani Simbine of South Africa won the gold medal, running a time of 10.03 seconds in the final. Akani Simbine won his first international 100 m title, delivering an upset over Yohan Blake – the second fastest man on the all-time lists who stumbled in the final after leading the semi-finals on time. Pius Adome (born 9 January 1993) is a Ugandan sprinter who competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Adome competed in the men's 100 m and men's 200 m sprint events. Adome's 100 m heat consisted of seven runners including Cejhae Greene and Warren Fraser, Adome finished in 5th place with a time of 10.70 seconds finishing ahead of Kolinio Radrudru and Tirioro Willie. Weightlifting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held in the Gold Coast from April 5 to 9. The Weightlifting competition was held at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre. A total of eight men's and eight women's events were held. On 7 October 2016, it was announced seven new events for women were added to the sport program, meaning there will be an equal number of events for men and women.
