US Bus Lines
US Bus Lines was a bus and coach operator in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was a Melbourne bus company that operated six bus routes under contract to Public Transport Victoria. It was acquired by Ventura Bus Lines in December 2009. History In 1921 Belgrave United Motor Service was formed by Messrs Carter, Davies, Gayle and Hitchcock. The US Bus Lines was adopted later in the 1920s. The Olinda service was purchased from Tutt & Stone in 1925, and the Belgrave South service from W Parkin in April 1937. In May 1956 the Dandenong to Belgrave service was purchased from Dyson's Peninsula Motors and Panorama Bus Service from Mr Jewell in the early 1960s. In February 1972 the business merged with Invicta Bus Service to form Invicta United Bus Lines, but this arrangement was dissolved in September 1973. Monbulk, Victoria
Monbulk is a town in Victoria, Australia, 42 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. Sydney Bus Museum (formerly the Sydney Bus and Truck Museum) is a not-for-profit transportation museum and education centre for public benefit located in the suburb of Leichhardt, New South Wales, Leichhardt, in Sydney, Australia. The museum is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of each month. The museum restores, maintains, displays and operates over 70 buses from the 1920s to 2000's. Overview ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was established in July 1936 by Frank Shennen as ''Transportation''. It was renamed ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' in March 1940. It originally covered all forms of transport, but after a short while rail and tram news was withdrawn, with it focussing on the bus and truck industries. It was sold in 1986 to the Murray family. Shennen Publishing later founded ''Railway Transportation'' and ''Freight & Container Transportation'' that shared some content with ''Truck & Bus Transportation''. It was purchased by Grenda Corporation in March 2009. which in turn was acquired by Ventura Bus Lines in January 2012. History Croydon Bus Service owned by Bill Wilson commenced in May 1936 between Croydon and North Croydon. In December 1947 Clem Usher purchased the business. The business expanded with the purchase of Ringwood Bus Service in May 1952, A Turner in 1968, Adams Bus Service in January 1979. In February 1972 the business merged with US Bus Lines to form Invicta United Bus Lines, but this arrangement was dissolved in September 1973. In July 1987 Invicta purchased Morse's Bus Service in Devonport, Tasmania. This was sold in 1990. Invicta was acquired by the Grenda Corporation in March 2009. Belgrave is a town and outer suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 36 km east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area. Belgrave recorded a population of 3,894 at the 2021 census. History Belgrave is situated in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, part of the land of the Wurundjeri first nations people. Belgrave was first settled by Europeans in 1851. Belgrave was named after an 1840s chapel in Leeds, Yorkshire, England; the name was carried by Mr and Mrs R.G. Benson when they came to Melbourne in 1856. Their sons, the Benson Brothers, settled in the Belgrave district in the 1870s.
