UNESCO Collection
UNESCO Collection is a world music record label, under the aegis of UNESCO. The full title of the series was ''UNESCO Collection of Traditional Music of the World''. Starting in 1961, the label, created in collaboration with Alain Daniélou, has recorded and issued recordings of traditional world music. Its recording activity was mainly in the 1960s and 1970s. It was composed of a number of subseries of recordings: ''Musical Sources'' (Philips 6586 001 — Philips 6586 045), ''Musical Atlas'' (EMI/Odeon), ''A Musical Anthology of the Orient'' (Bärenreiter/Musicaphon BM 30 2001 — BM 30 2032), ''An Anthology of African Music'' (Bärenreiter/Musicaphon BM 30 2301 — BM 30 2314), and ''An Anthology of North Indian Classical Music'' (Bärenreiter/Musicaphon BM 30 SL 2051 — BM 30 SL 2054; reissued by Rounder as CD 5101-5104.) A record label, or record company, is a brand or trademark of music recordings and music videos, or the company that owns it. Alain Daniélou
Alain Daniélou (4 October 1907 – 27 January 1994) was a French historian, Indologist, intellectual, musicologist, translator, writer, and notable Western convert to and expert on the Shaivite sect of Hinduism. In 1991 he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. Naïve Records
Naïve Records is a French independent record label based in Paris, specializing in electronic music, pop music, jazz and classical music. Founding and expansion It was founded in 1998 by Patrick Zelnik, former CEO of Virgin France, Gilles Paires and Eric Tong Cuong. Following finance house Édouard Stern taking a 10% stake in Naïve, Naïve acquired various other record labels, including among classical labels Auvidis (which included early music label Michel Bernstein's Astrée and modernist label Montaigne), Yolanta Skura's Opus 111 (founded 1990, named after Beethoven's Piano Sonata, Op. 111) and Nicolas Bartholomée's Ambroisie. Auvidis was a record label founded in 1976 by Louis Bricard. Along with its subsidiaries, it was acquired in 1998 by Naïve Records.
