UFO Discography
The following is a comprehensive discography of UFO, an English hard rock band formed in 1968. The band became a transitional band between early hard rock and heavy metal and the new wave of British heavy metal. UFO's influence was strongly felt in the 1980s heavy metal scene and they have been cited as a primary influence of Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Joey Tempest of Europe, Frank Hannon of Tesla, and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, among others. UFO (band)
UFO are an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They became a transitional group between early hard rock and heavy metal and the new wave of British heavy metal. The band's current lineup includes vocalist Phil Mogg, lead guitarist Vinnie Moore, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Neil Carter, bass guitarist Rob De Luca, and drummer Andy Parker. They have gone through several line-up changes, leaving Mogg as the only constant member, and had two breaks (1983–1984 and again from 1989 to 1991). The band are also notable for featuring former Scorpions guitarist and MSG founder Michael Schenker, who was a member of UFO from 1973 to 1978 and had rejoined the band sporadically between 1993 and 2003, when Moore replaced him. In May 2018, Mogg announced that he would retire from UFO after one last tour as a member of the band in 2019; however, the band plans to resume their farewell tour in 2022. Music recording certification is a system of certifying that a music recording has shipped, sold, or streamed a certain number of units. The threshold quantity varies by type (such as album, single, music video) and by nation or territory (see List of music recording certifications). ''Phenomenon'' is the third studio album by English hard rock band UFO (band), UFO, released in May 1974. It is the band's first album to feature lead guitarist Michael Schenker, who replaced Mick Bolton. Production Their third studio album in total, ''Phenomenon'' was UFO's debut with major label Chrysalis Records and also their third to be released in the United States. With the arrival of ex-Scorpions (band), Scorpions lead guitarist Michael Schenker, ''Phenomenon'' saw UFO begin to leave their blues-based "space rock" sound behind as the band began transitioning to a more straightforward hard rock sound. UFO 1
''UFO 1'' is the debut studio album by British rock band UFO. It was first released in the UK by Beacon Records in October 1970. The first US release was on Rare Earth Records/Motown in April 1971. Neither of these releases charted, but the album did become a success in Germany and Japan. The album was reissued under the name ''Unidentified Flying Object'' with 4 of the 5 tracks from the band's second album. This reissue shows a photo of the band from the 1980s on the cover. The album was also reissued on the '' Flying, The Early Years'' compilation, along with all of the band's other work from before guitarist Michael Schenker joined the group. It was also given a straight reissue under the name ''All The Hits & More - The Early Days'' (XXX Media, Germany, 2011), with no additional tracks. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne.
