UEFA Euro 2004 Group A
Group A of UEFA Euro 2004 was one of four groups in the final tournament's initial group stage. It began on 12 June and was completed on 20 June. The group consisted of hosts Portugal, Spain, Russia and Greece. Portugal won the group and advanced to the quarter-finals, along with Greece. Spain and Russia failed to advance. Greece and Portugal faced each other again in the tournament final, with Greece again emerging victorious. The 2004 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2004, was the 12th edition of the UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial association football, football competition contested by the List of men's national association football teams#UEFA (Europe), men's national teams of UEFA member associations. The final tournament was hosted for the first time in Portugal, from 12 June to 4 July 2004. A total of 31 matches were played in ten venues across eight cities – Aveiro, Portugal, Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Guimarães, Faro, Portugal, Faro/Loulé, Leiria, Lisbon, and Porto. 1960 European Nations' Cup
The 1960 European Nations' Cup was the first edition of the UEFA European Championship, held every four years and organised by UEFA. The first tournament was held in France. It was won by the Soviet Union, who beat Yugoslavia 2–1 in Paris after extra time. The tournament was a knockout competition; just 17 teams entered with some notable absences, West Germany, Italy and England among those missing. The teams would play home-and-away matches until the semi-finals; the final four teams would then move on to the final tournament, whose host was selected after the teams became known. In the quarter-finals, Spain, who were under Francoist rule, refused to travel to the Soviet Union for political reasons. The Estádio do Dragão (; English: Dragon Stadium) is an all-seater football stadium in Porto, Portugal, and the home ground of FC Porto since 2003. Angelos Basinas ( el, Άγγελος Μπασινάς , born 3 January 1976) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder.
