U96
U96 is a German musical project formed by DJ and producer Alex Christensen, and a team of producers named Matiz ( Ingo Hauss, Helmut Hoinkis, and Hayo Lewerentz). After a decade-long hiatus, the band returned in 2018 without Christensen and Hoinkis. History ''Das Boot'': 1991–1992 The name of the project comes from the film '' Das Boot'' about German submarine '' U-96'' from World War II. The project's first hit, " Das Boot" (1991), is a techno adaptation of the film's title melody, which had been originally composed by Klaus Doldinger. An album of the same name was also released. ''Replugged'': 1993 The band's next album, ''Replugged'' (1993), was inspired by the electro sounds of the 1980s and by ambient and disco music themes. It was less commercially successful than its predecessor, but achieved three top-10 hits: " Love Sees No Colour", " Night in Motion", and " Inside Your Dreams", which peaked at number 1 in Finland. Love Sees No Colour
"Love Sees No Colour" is a song recorded by German act U96. It was released in May 1993 as the first single off its second album, ''Replugged'' (1993), on which it appears as second track. It added sung male vocals, which was also going to be one of the distinctive marks of the project. The words contained in the title are the only lyrics of the song. "Das Boot" (released in the UK and US as "The Boat") is the title theme to the film and TV series ''Das Boot'', composed and produced by Klaus Doldinger, and released as a single in 1981. In 1991, the song was covered by Alex Christensen and his dance music project U96. This techno version was U96's debut single from the Das Boot (album), album of the same name. On the German Singles Chart, the U96 version of "Das Boot" spent 13 weeks at number one in early 1992. It also became a number-one hit in Austria, Israel, Norway and Switzerland and entered the top 10 in Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands and Sweden. "Inside Your Dreams" is a song recorded by German act U96, released in 1994 as a non-album track. It was a major hit on the charts in Europe, peaking at number-one in Finland. Additionally, it was a top 10 hit in Austria and Switzerland, and a top 20 hit in Denmark and Germany. On the Eurochart Hot 100, it reached number 29 in May 1994. "Club Bizarre" is a song recorded by German dance act U96, released in February 1995 as the second single from the album of the same name (1995). It was a hit in several countries, although it was not as successful as the act's previous single, "Love Religion", but became a top twenty hit in the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria. On the Eurochart Hot 100, the single peaked at number 28 in April 1995. It features uncredited vocals by Skadi Lange. Alex Christensen (born 7 April 1967), also known by his stage names Jasper Forks or Alex C., is a German dance music producer, songwriter, and DJ generally known as the face and one of the founding members of U96.
