U.S. International
The U.S. International (officially Yonex / K&D Graphics International) is an open international badminton tournament held in Orange County, California, United States. This tournament previously a BWF Grand Prix and Grand Prix Gold, Grand Prix level. In 2016, this tournament downgraded to BWF International Challenge level. In 2017, the tournament has both BWF International Challenge, International Challenge and BWF International Series, International Series event. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. The shuttlecock is a feathered or (in informal matches) plastic projectile which flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Lee Hyun-il
Lee Hyun-il ( ko, 이현일; born 17 April 1980) is a former badminton player from South Korea. He is a former World and Asian Championships bronze medalist, and was part of South Korean team that won the 2003 Sudirman Cup as well the gold medals at the 2002 and 2014 Asian Games. Career 2002 Asian Games Lee competed in the 2002 Asian Games where he showed signs of promise as an ace singles player for team Korea. In the men's team event, Lee dominated the opponents he faced in the tourney, completing all three matches less than 30 minutes and allowing only seven points in the semifinals and eight in the final. Jing Yu Hong
Hong Jingyu (洪静宇) (born 2 July 1984 in Beijing), also known as Jing Yu Hong, is a professional badminton player from China who is a doubles and mixed specialist. She started her badminton career at the age of 9. At age 11, Hong left home to train full-time at a professional sports center. In 2002, she was recognized for her abilities and was selected for the Chinese National Youth Team. She was selected to go to the China National 2nd Tier Team for Women Doubles. During her time with the National Team she won recognition and several titles in China's National Team and individual tournaments. Frederik Colberg
Frederik Colberg (born 31 March 1993) is a Danish badminton player from Holbæk. He won his first international title at the 2010 Iceland International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Mette Poulsen. Colberg was part of the Danish junior team that won a bronze medal at the 2011 European Junior Championships. Eom Hye-won (; born 8 September 1991) is a South Korean badminton player who specializes in doubles. She became a national representative since 2004, and was selected to join the national team in 2008. As a member of the Korea National Sport University team, she was awarded as the best player by the Badminton Korea Association in 2011. Choi Sol-gyu (; born 5 August 1995) is a South Korean badminton player. He was a part of the Korean national team that won the 2017 Sudirman Cup. Career Choi has been best known as a mixed doubles player since his back-to-back titles at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012 and 2013. However, as a junior, he was also successful in boys' singles, in which he won the under-17 title at the 2011 Surabaya Cup, and the Malaysia International Youth U19 in both 2012 and 2013. Jung Kyung-eun
Jung Kyung-eun (Hangul: 정경은; or ; born 20 March 1990) is a South Korean professional badminton player. She was the 2016 Summer Olympics bronze medalist in the women's doubles event. Career Jung Kyung-eun began her career competing in singles, but now concentrates on doubles. She has attained the most success with her women's doubles partner Kim Ha-na. In April 2012, they won their first major title at the 2012 India Open. In the mixed doubles she has recently partnered with Kim Ki-jung; however, they have not achieved the same level of results as they have had in doubles with their respective genders.
