Jing Yu Hong
Hong Jingyu (洪静宇) (born 2 July 1984 in Beijing), also known as Jing Yu Hong, is a professional badminton player from China who is a doubles and mixed specialist. She started her badminton career at the age of 9. At age 11, Hong left home to train full-time at a professional sports center. In 2002, she was recognized for her abilities and was selected for the Chinese National Youth Team. She was selected to go to the China National 2nd Tier Team for Women Doubles. During her time with the National Team she won recognition and several titles in China's National Team and individual tournaments. Paula Lynn Obanana
Paula Lynn Cao Hok (née Obañana; born March 19, 1985) is a Filipino-American badminton player who was originally from Dumaguete, Philippines. In 2015, she won the women's doubles gold medals at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada partnered with Eva Lee. In 2016, she competed at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Personal life Obañana, started training at the age of 10 during her elementary years at the Silliman University Elementary School. She later joined the High School Badminton Varsity Team at Silliman University and was subsequently awarded "Athlete of the Year", "Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year", and "Most Valuable Player". Hock Lai Lee (born 20 March 1987) is a Malaysian-born American badminton player. Lee started his junior career as a Malaysian player based in Penang. In junior event, he won the Pahang Open tournament in the boys' singles event. He also represented Malaysia at the 2005 Asian Junior Championships and win bronze medal in the boys' team event. He won the men's singles title at the U.S. National Badminton Championships in 2010 and 2013. Nicole Grether
Nicole Grether (born 17 October 1974) is a badminton player from Germany. She competed at the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. Career Grether competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in women's doubles with partner Juliane Schenk. They defeated Michelle Edwards and Chantal Botts of South Africa in the first round but were defeated by Ann-Lou Jørgensen and Rikke Olsen of Denmark in the round of 16. As of 2011, she now represents Canada with her partner Charmaine Reid. However, due to Grether still holding a German passport, the duo has been unable to compete as a Canadian team in a number of events. This issue has prevented the pair from qualifying to the 2012 Summer Olympics. Michelle Li
Michelle Li (born November 3, 1991) is a Canadian badminton player from Markham, Ontario. Li is the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion and the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal in women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games. She has won gold in both singles and doubles at the Pan American Games, and won the singles and team event titles from the Pan American Badminton Championships. As a competitor for Ontario, Li also won singles, doubles, and mixed team titles at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. Toby Ng
Tobias Ng (born 8 October 1985) is a Canadian badminton player. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Ng's father is from Hong Kong and his mother from Macau. He started playing badminton at the Kensington Community Centre, when he was about six years old. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the mixed doubles event with partner Grace Gao. His younger brother, Derrick Ng, is also an elite level player. Since 2020, Toby coaches advanced to professional level athletes at the Bellevue Badminton Club.
