U.S. Bank Building (Boise)
The US Bank Building is a high-rise building in the western United States, located in Boise, Idaho. Completed in 1978 and renovated in 2004, it rises spanning 19 floors. The tallest building in the state for over thirty years, it was surpassed by the Eighth & Main Building, which opened in 2014. History Originally "Idaho First Plaza," the building was the headquarters of the Idaho First National Bank, which was founded in 1867. Built by EmKay Development and Realty Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boise-based Morrison-Knudsen, it opened in September 1978. Following acquisitions in neighboring states, IFNB changed its name to West One Bank in 1989, and was acquired by U.S. Bank of Portland in 1995. In 2000, the building was purchased by the property development firm Unico. The building does not have a 13th floor. Eighth & Main is an 18-story building in the western United States, located in Boise, Idaho. The tallest building in the state at , it houses the Idaho headquarters of Zions Bank, as well as Holland & Hart and other companies. Construction was completed in early 2014, and a grand opening celebration was held on February 15. The location, formerly known as "the pit" and the "Boise Hole", had sat vacant since 1987. Morrison–Knudsen
Morrison–Knudsen (MK) was an American civil engineering and construction company, with headquarters in Boise, Idaho. MK designed and constructed major infrastructure throughout the world and was one of the consortium of firms that built Hoover Dam, San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and many other large projects of American infrastructure. Founders MK's origins date to 1905, when Harry Morrison, Chairman and President (1885–1971) met Morris Knudsen (1862–1943) while working on the construction of the New York Canal ( Boise Project) in southwestern Idaho.
