Boise (, , ) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Idaho and is the county seat of Ada County. On the Boise River in southwestern Idaho, it is east of the Oregon border and north of the Nevada border. The downtown area's elevation is above sea level. The population according to the 2020 US Census was 235,684. The Boise metropolitan area, also known as the Treasure Valley, includes five counties with a combined population of 749,202, the most populous metropolitan area in Idaho. It contains the state's three largest cities: Boise, Nampa, and Meridian. Boise is the 77th most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States. Albertsons Stadium
Albertsons Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. It is the home field of the Boise State Broncos of the Mountain West Conference. Known as Bronco Stadium for its first 44 seasons, it was renamed in May 2014 when Albertsons, a chain of grocery stores founded by Boise area resident Joe Albertson, purchased the naming rights. Opened in 1970, it was also a track & field stadium and hosted the NCAA track & field championships twice, in 1994 and 1999. Lauren Stein McLean (born October 20, 1974) is an American politician and entrepreneur serving as the mayor of Boise, Idaho. McLean served as a member of the Boise City Council from 2011 to 2019, and as council president from 2017 to 2019, before defeating Mayor Dave Bieter in the 2019 mayoral election. Early life and education McLean was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Houston, Texas, and Cazenovia, New York. McLean received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1997 and a Master of Public Administration in environmental policy from Boise State University in 2001. The Boise City Council is the governing body of the City of Boise, Idaho, Boise, Idaho. The council is composed of six members elected at-large for four-year terms. Three of the six seats are elected in November every odd-numbered year. Eighth & Main is an 18-story building in the western United States, located in Boise, Idaho. The tallest building in the state at , it houses the Idaho headquarters of Zions Bank, as well as Holland & Hart and other companies. Construction was completed in early 2014, and a grand opening celebration was held on February 15. The location, formerly known as "the pit" and the "Boise Hole", had sat vacant since 1987. Jack's Urban Meeting Place
Jack's Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) is a creative activity center in Boise, Idaho, with facilities for public meetings, workshops, and exhibition space. An amphitheater and multi-purpose studios for art, movement, and cooking are included. A collection of 52 tractors are on display at various locations in the facility. History Planning for JUMP began in 1999 as a museum of agriculture sponsored by Boise agribusiness magnate J. R. Simplot. The museum was envisioned to include some of the 150 pieces of farm equipment Simplot had purchased in 1998 from the collection of Oscar O. Cooke. The plan evolved into a creative facility, and after Simplot's death in 2008, the J.R. Idaho State Capitol
The Idaho State Capitol in Boise, Idaho, Boise is the Seat of government, home of the government of the U.S. state of Idaho. Although Lewiston, Idaho, Lewiston briefly served as Idaho's capital from the formation of Idaho Territory in 1863, the territorial legislature moved it to Boise on December 24, 1864. Construction of the first portion of the capitol building began in the summer of 1905, fifteen years after statehood, and the architects were John E. Tourtellotte and Charles Hummel. Tourtellotte was a Connecticut native whose career began in Massachusetts and continued when he moved to Boise. Hummel was a German Americans, German immigrant who partnered with Tourtellotte in 1901. The final cost of the building was just over $2 million; it was completed in 1920. There are 44 counties in the U.S. state of Idaho. The Idaho Territory was organized in March 1863, and Owyhee County was the first county in the territory to be organized, in December of that year. Oneida County was organized in January 1864, while Missoula County was adopted the same month, before becoming part of the new Montana Territory in May. Shoshone, Nez Perce, Idaho and Boise Counties were recognized in February 1864; Alturas County was organized the same month.
