Lärbro
Lärbro () is a locality on the Swedish island of Gotland, with 963 inhabitants in 2014. Lärbro is also the name of the larger populated area, ''socken'' (not to be confused with parish). It comprises the same area as the administrative Lärbro District, established on 1January 2016. Geography Lärbro is the name of the locality surrounding the medieval Lärbro Church, sometimes referred to as ''Lärbro kyrkby''. It is also the name of the ''socken'' as well as the district. Lärbro is located in the northern part of Gotland, approximately north of Slite. , Lärbro Church belongs to Forsa parish in Norra Gotlands pastorat, along with the churches in Hellvi, Hangvar, Hall and Hallshuk. One of the asteroids in the asteroid belt, 10126 Lärbro, is named after this place. History From 1921 to 1960, Lärbro had a railway connection with Visby. Valknut
The valknut is a symbol consisting of three interlocked triangles. It appears on a variety of objects from the archaeological record of the ancient Germanic peoples. The term ''valknut'' is a modern development; it is not known what term or terms were used to refer to the symbol historically. Scholars have proposed a variety of explanations for the symbol, sometimes associating it with the god Odin, and it has been compared to the three-horned symbol found on the 9th-century Snoldelev Stone, to which it may be related.Simek (2007:163). The Stora Hammars image stones are four Viking Age image stones located in Stora Hammars, Lärbro parish, Gotland, Sweden dating from around the 7th century CE. Description The four Stora Hammars image stones are phallic shaped. Similar combinations of death with this erotic symbology occur on other Gotland rune and image stones. The images on the Stora Hammars II and IV stones are very worn and not currently decipherable. Stora Hammars I Depicted on the Stora Hammars I stone are six panels with mythological, religious and martial background, including panels depicting a woman between two men, a sacrifice scene with a Valknut over an altar, a woman standing between a longship manned with armed warriors and another group of armed men, and a battle scene.
