Tuvalu At The 2010 Commonwealth Games
Tuvalu competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. It sent three athletes to compete in the discus, shot put and weightlifting events. Tuau Lapua Lapua finished in 15th position in men's final for weightlifting (62 kg), with a lift of 220 kg. Fakepelu Sileti entered both the discus throw and the shot put events and reached 14th position in the qualifying rounds of the men's shot put, with a distance of 12.62 metres. The Tuvalu Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (TASNOC) is the Tuvaluan organization recognized as a National Olympic Committee (NOC) by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In 2006, Tuvalu satisfied the IOC's criterion of a minimum five national sports federations recognized by their international sports federations, which included basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, boxing and table tennis. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, he finished in 15th position in the men’s final for weightlifting (62 kg), with a lift of 220 kg. In Weightlifting at the 2011 Pacific Games he won: -62 kg Clean & Jerk, -62 kg Snatch, -62 kg Total. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's 62 kg where he finished with a rank of 12.
