Tsabit
Tsabit ( ar, ﺗﺴﺎﺑﻴﺖ) is a town and commune, and capital of Tsabit District, in Adrar Province, south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 14,895, up from 11,832 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 2.4%. Geography The commune of Tsabit lies at an elevation of around near a string of oases, at the southern end of the Gourara region of northern Adrar Province. The oases form a crescent shape; most of the villages are found on the eastern edge, while there are scattered palm trees to the west of the oasis. The area is surrounded by a mixture of rocky and sandy desert. The town of Kabertene lies across the N6 to the northeast of the main oases. Climate Tsabit has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification ''BWh''), with summers among the warmest in the world, and only of precipitation in the average year. Sbaa
Sbaa ( ar, اﻟﺴﺒﻊ) is a town and commune in Tsabit District, Adrar Province, south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 2,312, up from 1,989 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.5%, making it the least populated commune in the province. Geography The town of Sbaa and the nearby village of El Guerara lie at the very southern end of the Gourara region, an area in northern Adrar Province with many scattered oases. The town itself lies on the eastern and north-eastern sides of a small oasis. An oil refinery lies about to the east of Sbaa. Adrar Province
Adrar ( ar, ولاية أدرار, ber, ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ) is a province (''wilaya'') in southwestern Algeria, named after its capital Adrar. It is the second-largest province, with an area of 424,948 km2, roughly the size of the US state of California. It had 402,197 inhabitants at the 2008 population census. Aougrout ( ar, أوﻗﺮت) is a commune in Aougrout District, Adrar Province, in south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 11,784, up from 9,878 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.8%. Geography The population center of Aougrout commune is centered on an oasis located in the southern part of the Gourara region, northeast of the provincial capital Adrar. Most of the villages of the commune are located on the eastern side of the oasis. Metarfa ( ar, المطارفة) is a town and commune in Aougrout District, Adrar Province, in south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 8,438, up from 7,061 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.8%. Geography The villages in Metarfa commune are built near various scattered oases in the southern part of the Gourara region of northern Adrar Province, about halfway between Timimoun and Adrar. Tindouf (Berber: Tinduf, ar, تندوف) is the main town, and a commune in Tindouf Province, Algeria, close to the Mauritanian, Western Saharan and Moroccan borders. The commune has population of around 160,000 but the census and population estimates do not count the Sahrawi refugees making the population as of the 2008 census 45,966, up from 25,266 in 1998, and an annual population growth rate of 6.3%. The region is considered of strategic significance. It houses Algerian military bases and an airport with regular flights to Algiers as well as to other domestic destinations.
