Each District is further divided into one or more municipalities (''baladiyahs''). This means that its neighborhoods and suburbs have the same status as those of smaller cities or villages elsewhere in the country. Algeria, since December 18, 2019, is divided into 58 wilaya, wilayas (province, provinces). Prior to December 18, 2019, there were 48 provinces. The 58 provinces are divided into 1,541 baladiyahs (Municipalities of Algeria, municipalities). The name of a province is always that of its capital city. Adrar Province
Adrar ( ar, ولاية أدرار, ber, ⴰⴷⵔⴰⵔ) is a province (''wilaya'') in southwestern Algeria, named after its capital Adrar. It is the second-largest province, with an area of 424,948 km2, roughly the size of the US state of California. It had 402,197 inhabitants at the 2008 population census. It is bordered by five other wilayas: to the west by Tindouf; to the north by Béchar and El Bayadh; to the east by Ghardaïa and Tamanrasset. To the south, it is bordered by Mauritania and Mali. Tsabit
Tsabit ( ar, ﺗﺴﺎﺑﻴﺖ) is a town and commune, and capital of Tsabit District, in Adrar Province, south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 14,895, up from 11,832 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 2.4%. Geography The commune of Tsabit lies at an elevation of around near a string of oases, at the southern end of the Gourara region of northern Adrar Province. The oases form a crescent shape; most of the villages are found on the eastern edge, while there are scattered palm trees to the west of the oasis. The area is surrounded by a mixture of rocky and sandy desert. The town of Kabertene lies across the N6 to the northeast of the main oases. Climate Tsabit has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification ''BWh''), with summers among the warmest in the world, and only of precipitation in the average year. Sbaa
Sbaa ( ar, اﻟﺴﺒﻊ) is a town and commune in Tsabit District, Adrar Province, south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 2,312, up from 1,989 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.5%, making it the least populated commune in the province. Geography The town of Sbaa and the nearby village of El Guerara lie at the very southern end of the Gourara region, an area in northern Adrar Province with many scattered oases. The town itself lies on the eastern and north-eastern sides of a small oasis. An oil refinery lies about to the east of Sbaa. Climate Sbaa has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification ''BWh''), with extremely hot summers and mild winters, and very little precipitation throughout the year. Transportation Sbaa lies on the N6 national highway along with the village of El Guerara to the south.
