Troy Daily News
The ''Miami Valley News'', formerly the Troy Daily News, is an American daily newspaper published every day except Mondays and Saturdays and holidays in Troy, Ohio. Its Sunday edition is called the ''Miami Valley Sunday News''. It is owned by AIM Media Midwest. In addition to Troy, the ''Miami Valley News'' circulates in several communities of Miami County, Ohio, including Casstown, Conover, Covington, Fletcher, Piqua, Pleasant Hill, Tipp City and West Milton. The ''Miami Valley Today'' is printed in Miamisburg. History The newspaper was founded as a daily in 1909. In 1955, the newspaper was bought by George Kuser. He owned the paper until 1998. Kuser was an eccentric businessman who lived abroad in Africa, Italy and Turkey for much of that time. Brown Publishing Company was a privately owned Cincinnati, Ohio, newspaper business started by Congressman Clarence J. Brown in Blanchester, Ohio in 1920. It ended 90 years of operations in August/September 2010 with its bankruptcy and sale of assets to a new company formed by its creditors and called Ohio Community Media Inc. The company was previously a family-owned business; it published 18 daily newspapers, 27 weekly newspapers, and 26 free weeklies. The former CEO was Brown's grandson, Roy Brown. The chairman of the board was Roy's brother Clancy Brown, who is also an actor. Heartland Publications was a Connecticut-based owner of small to medium market newspapers, and started out by acquiring 24 publications from Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. located in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia. They acquired 5 additional publications from Mid-South Management Co., Inc. in 2005 and 2007, located in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and West Virginia. Freedom Communications, Inc., was an American media conglomerate that operated daily and weekly newspapers, websites and mobile applications, as well as ''Coast Magazine'' and other specialty publications. Interstate 75 (I-75) is a major north–south Interstate Highway in the Great Lakes and Southeastern regions of the United States. The ''Sidney Daily News'' is an American daily newspaper published five days a week Tuesdays through Saturdays in Sidney, Ohio. It is owned by AIM Media Midwest. History The newspaper's history as a daily dates back to 1891, but its former sister weekly newspaper, the ''Shelby County Democrat'', first began publishing January 1, 1849, in Sidney (as the ''Shelby Democrat''). The ''Democrat'' was purchased in 1876 by General James Oliver Amos, and became the first newspaper published by Amos Publishing.
