Triathlon At The Commonwealth Games
Triathlon is one of the sports at the quadrennial Commonwealth Games competition. It was first granted Commonwealth Games sport status in 2002, and has been held in each edition since, except in Delhi 2010 Games due to the lack of suitable venue for the swimming leg in Delhi. Until 2022, it was a core sport which had to be included in each competition's sporting programme. Para-triathlon was first included as an optional sport in the Gold Coast 2018 games. The next appearance of the sport will take place in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Australia Currently there are five triathlon events in the Commonwealth Games. Individual events are held for men and women and have been since the sport's introduction in 2002, while a mixed team relay has been on the programme since 2014. Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of Swimming (sport), swimming, Cycle sport, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek language, Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. Matthew Hauser (born 3 April 1998) is an Australian Triathlon, triathlete. In 2021, he competed in the Triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's, men's triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also competed in the Triathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Mixed relay, mixed relay event. In 2018, he won the gold medal in the Triathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games – Mixed relay, mixed relay event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia. He also finished in 4th place in the Triathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's, men's triathlon. Triathlon At The 2014 Commonwealth Games
The Triathlon competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, were held in Strathclyde Country Park. The men's and women's individual events were held on Thursday 24 July and women's triathlon was the first medal event of the Games. Mixed team relay was held on Saturday 26 July for the first time ever in major multi-sport Games. Marisol Casado, ITU President and IOC member, commented: "We are delighted the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee has embraced the Triathlon Mixed Relay. Triathlon is on currently on a high in the United Kingdom, and the Mixed Relay will offer an extra opportunity for the people of Glasgow to watch another thrilling and unpredictable event live on their city streets." The 2014 Commonwealth Games ( gd, Geamannan a' Cho-fhlaitheis 2014), officially known as the XX Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Glasgow 2014, ( sco, Glesca 2014 or Glesga 2014; gd, Glaschu 2014), was an international multi-sport event celebrated in the tradition of the Commonwealth Games as governed by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). The 2006 Commonwealth Games Triathlon events were held on March 18, 2006 in the Melbourne suburb of St. Kilda, which plays host to most triathlon events held in Melbourne. 2006 Commonwealth Games
The 2006 Commonwealth Games, officially the XVIII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Melbourne 2006 (Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm 2006'' or ''Naarm 2006''), was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth held in Melbourne, Australia between 15 and 26 March 2006. It was the fourth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games.
