Based in South London, it specialised in releasing limited-edition runs of singles by both local bands and international acts whose work is difficult to come by in the UK. Having started helping Rob and Claire with the label in 2007, Adam Killip took over running Trash Aesthetics in 2010. ''TA701'' (The label's first release) was a 480 copy 7" clear-vinyl pressing by Bloc Party called "She's Hearing Voices" which was released to critical acclaim, with BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq labelling the track "genius". This was followed the same year with another limited single called ''22 Grand Job'', this time by The Rakes which was met with similar enthusiasm in the music press. 2005 saw the release of more limited 7"s by Omaha, Nebraska tap dancing indie troop Tilly and the Wall (signed to Conor Oberst's Team Love label in the US) and Brixton based country ...

Richmond Fontaine
Richmond Fontaine was an American four-piece rock and alternative country band, based in Portland, Oregon. They were active between 1994 and 2016 and recorded eleven studio albums, four live albums and two EPs. Underpinned by lead singer and songwriter Willy Vlautin's lyrics, Richmond Fontaine songs often evoke imagery of Reno, Nevada, Portland, the Western United States, and Mexico, while telling stories in a style that critics have compared to Raymond Carver. The group has cited influences such as Gram Parsons, X, Green on Red and Dave Alvin. History Formed in 1994, Richmond Fontaine started touring the Pacific Northwest live circuit to support their first three albums released on Cavity Search Records. Gradually gaining attention in the UK and Europe the band began regularly touring there. Most of the core musicians and producer J. D. Luke Abbott
Luke Abbott is an English electronic music producer from Norwich, Norfolk. He records and performs extensively under his own name, under the alias Earlham Mystics and as one third of electronic jazz group Szun Waves. His work has been described as "left-field techno and kraut-infused electro" but also draws on more esoteric elements of improvisation, "psychedelic, filtered beats and slow-evolving synths". Abbott's first single, 'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B'B' was released by Output Recordings in 2006 and later that year, his 'Projections' single was released as a limited edition 7" on Trash Aesthetics. In 2008 the ''Tuesday'' EP was released on James Holden's Border Community label, beginning a long relationship spanning several releases including 2009's ''Whitebox Stereo EP'' , 2011's ''Holkham Drones'' and 2014's ''Wysing Forest''. The latter was created from a series of improvisations made in 2012 when Abbott was in residence at Wysing Arts Centre and produced a site spe ...

Benning left in 2000 and was replaced by JD Samson for the rest of the group's existence. They mixed punk's directness and politics with playful samples, eclectic pop, and lo-fi electronics. The group also added multimedia and performance art elements to their live shows, which often featured support from like-minded acts such as The Need. History 1998–2000: Formation and ''Le Tigre'' Following the breakup of Bikini Kill in 1998, Kathleen Hanna released a solo album under the pseudonym '' Julie Ruin'' and moved to New York, where she wanted to perform ''Julie Ruin'' songs live. Sadie Benning, who had helped Hanna make a music video for the ''J ...
