Transitional Sovereignty Council
The Transitional Sovereignty Council ( ar, مجلس السيادة الإنتقالي) is the collective head of state of Sudan, formed on 20 August 2019, by the August 2019 Draft Constitutional Declaration. It was dissolved by Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in the October 2021 Sudanese coup d'état and reconstituted the following month with new membership, effectively changing it from a unity government to a military junta. Under Article 10.(b) of the Draft Constitutional Declaration, it is composed of five civilians chosen by the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance (FFC), five military representatives chosen by the Transitional Military Council (TMC), and a civilian selected by agreement between the FFC and TMC. The chair for the first 21 months was to be a military member, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and for the remaining 18 months the chair was to be a civilian member, under Article 10.(c). Mohamed Alfaki
Mohamed al-Faki Suleiman (also ''Alfaki'', ''Elfaki'', ''El Faki''; born ; ) is a Sudanese politician who was the youngest member of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan. Under Article 19 of the August 2019 Draft Constitutional Declaration, al-Faki, as is the case for the other members of the Sovereignty Council, is ineligible to run in the election scheduled to follow the 39-month transition to democracy period. The Sovereignty Council was later dissolved in October 2021 after a military coup lead by Abdelfattah El Burhan in the 25th of October 2021. Nuba Mountains
The Nuba Mountains ( ar, جبال النوبة), also referred to as the Nuba Hills, is an area located in South Kordofan, Sudan. The area is home to a group of indigenous ethnic groups known collectively as the Nuba peoples. In the Middle Ages, the Nuba mountains had been part of the Nubian kingdom of Alodia. In the 18th century, they became home to the kingdom of Taqali that controlled the hills of the mountains until their defeat by Mahdi Muhammad Ahmad. After the British defeated the Mahdi army, Taqali was restored as a client state. Infiltration of the Messiria tribe of Baggara Arabs has been influential in modern conflicts. Up to 1.5 million people live in the mountains mostly ethnic Nuba and small minority of Baggara. National Consensus Forces
The National Consensus Forces (NCF, ''Ij’maa'') is a coalition of political parties in Sudan that opposed the rule of the National Congress Party, and was initially formed to stand against the NCP in the 2010 Sudanese elections. Farouk Abu Issa served as chairman from 2005 until his death in 2020. Policies The Popular Congress Party, the National Umma Party, and the Sudanese Communist Party later signed the Democratic Alternative Charter (DAC) on 4 July 2012, committing themselves to overthrowing the NCP through various peaceful political and popular means and establishing a civil and democratic state. The DAC was signed by 19 opposition parties. The NCF later outlined their plan for a transitional government to lead Sudan in the post-NCP phase. The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party – Region of Sudan (Arabic: حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي - وطن في السودان ''Ḥizb al-Ba‘th al-‘Arabī al-Ishtirākī - Waṭan fī al-Sūdān''), previously known as the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party – Country of Sudan, is a political party in Sudan.
