Torch is a hardcore/metal band from Trondheim, Norway. Musical style The band have self-described their sound a mix between rock and metal. Although sources have described their sound as everything from hardcore punk to metalcore, emo and nu metal. History Torch was formed in Trondheim, Norway in 1999. Their style back then was a combination of hardcore and nu metal. The sound of their early demos bears a strong resemblance to the style of bands like Korn, Deftones and especially Snot. In 2003, with new key members added to the line-up, they released the '' Visions Of...'' EP. It was released independently through Hardstar Records. The EP led to a successful national tour with the bands Miksha and Turdus Musicus in early 2004. They toured England the same year, gaining praise from small, but enthusiastic crowds. Trondheim ( , , ; sma, Tråante), historically Kaupangen, Nidaros and Trondhjem (), is a city and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. ZTV Norway
ZTV Norway was a Norwegian entertainment television channel. Its programming consisted of music videos, movies and sitcoms. The channel was launched in Norway for the first time in 1995. It was unsuccessful, however, and it closed down in 1996. In 2002, ZTV returned to Norway, replacing the Viasat Plus channel. The second time around it quickly established itself as popular with younger viewers, this time with a greater emphasis on music and especially Norwegian artists. Wolfmother
Wolfmother is an Australian hard rock band from Sydney. Formed in 2004, the group is centred around vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, who is the only constant member of the line-up. The band has been through many personnel changes since their formation, with the current incarnation including drummer Hamish Rosser and bassist Brad Heald, both of whom are former members of The Vines. The original – and most commercially successful – line-up included bassist and keyboardist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett. Ross and Heskett left Wolfmother after four years in 2008. Stockdale, Ross and Heskett formed Wolfmother in 2004 after several years of informal jamming. Opeth
Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal/rock band from Stockholm, formed in 1990 by lead vocalist David Isberg. The group has been through several personnel changes, including the replacement of every original member; notably Isberg in 1992. Mikael Åkerfeldt has been Opeth's frontman and primary songwriter since Isberg's departure. Opeth has consistently incorporated progressive, folk, blues, classical, and jazz influences into its usually lengthy compositions, as well as strong influences from death metal, especially in their early works. Placebo are a British rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Following the release of a demo, a split single, and their eponymous debut album, Placebo gained exposure in 1997 after the single " Nancy Boy" became popular in the UK, a song notorious at the time for its gender-bending content. Stavernfestivalen
Stavernfestivalen is a yearly music festival held in Stavern, Norway at Larvik Golf Arena. The festival takes place in July, and in 2019 there were roughly 75 000 attendees over a three-day period. The very first festival took place in 2001, lasting a single day with 175 attendees. In 2002 it expanded to two days, and this lasted until 2011, after which the festival increased to three days. Relocation to the Larvik Golf Arena Up until 2014 the festival was arranged at Skråvika near Minnehallen in Stavern. In 2015 it relocated to the Larvik Golf Arena – a much larger, spacious area where the organizers could focus on further developing and improving the overall experience. Camping and food services massively improved since the move. For example, in 2019 the campgrounds were able to support roughly 8 000 attendees and 26 food distributors in the festival arena.
