Tongod District, Malaysia
The Tongod District ( ms, Daerah Tongod) is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Tongod Town. History The district was first established in 1977 as a sub-district of the Kinabatangan district. The "daerah kecil" ("small district") was entrusted to Keningau's Charles Andau, who was an assistant district officer and formally subordinate to the district officer of the Kinabatangan district. On 1 March 1999, Tongod was raised to become an independent district. On 24 May 1999, Major Matthew Sator of Ranau was appointed to be the first district officer. The acquisition of the status of a fully fledged district also involved the construction of a new administration building, which replaced the first secretarial building. Beluran District
The Beluran District ( ms, Daerah Beluran) is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Beluran Town. Etymology The name Beluran was taken after the name of a hill in the district. In the languages of Labuk Dusun, Sungai and Tidong, it is called as "Buludan". Kadazan-Dusun
Kadazan-Dusun (also written as Kadazandusun or Mamasok Kadazan-Dusun) also less-known as "Mamasok Sabah" are two indigenous peoples of Sabah, Malaysia—the ethnic groups Kadazan and Dusun. The Kadazandusun is the largest native group of Bumiputra in Sabah. They are also known as "''Mamasok''", which means "''originals''" or "''indigenous people''". Most of the Kadazan-Dusun tribes believed they are descendants of Nunuk Ragang people. Kadazan-Dusun has been recognised as an indigenous nation of Borneo with documented heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 2004. Orang Sungai
The Orang Sungei (Malay word for "River People") are a group of indigenous people native to the state of Sabah, Malaysia. Groups of communities live along the rivers of Kinabatangan, Paitan, Labuk, Kudat, Membakut and Lahad Datu. The name "Orang Sungei" is a collective term that was first coined during the colonial British rule for communities living along the Kinabatangan River. In some cases like the Tambanuo people would refer to themselves as Orang Sungei for those who are Muslims; unless if they are not Muslims, then they would identify themselves by their tribal name. Whereas tribes like the Ida'an people are sometimes regarded as part of the Orang Sungei historically because of their common linguistic origins. Telupid District
The Telupid District ( ms, Daerah Telupid) is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Tongod. The capital of the district is in Telupid Town. The district is formerly a part of Beluran District. History Telupid was firstly settled around 1940s and became the major route for the Sandakan Death Marches during World War II. At the time, it was mainly inhabited by the Dusun people. The Kinabatangan District ( ms, Daerah Kinabatangan) is an administrative district in the Malaysian state of Sabah, part of the Sandakan Division which includes the districts of Beluran, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Tongod.
