Tommaso Del Garbo
Tommaso del Garbo or Thomas de Garbo (c.1305, in Florence – 1370, in Florence) was a professor of medicine in Perugia and Bologna. He was the son of the physician Dino del Garbo and a friend of the poet Petrarch. It is said that the physician Pietro da Tossignano Pietro da Tossignano also known as Pietro Curialti (c.1350 – 8 April 1407) was a professor of medicine in Perugia and Bologna. Dino di maestro B(u)ono del Garbo da Firenze (c.1280, Florence - 30 September 1327, Florence) was an Italian medieval physician and philosopher. He was also known as ''Dino da Firenze, Aldobrandino'' and in Latin as ''Dinus Florentinus''. He studied under Taddeo Alderotti in Bologna in 1295. Life He was the son of a physician and surgeon Bono del Garbo from the wealthy noble Del Garbo family in Florence. In 1295 he was a pupil of Taddeo Alderotti in Bologna, then one of the most important representatives of a reorientation of medicine and natural philosophy using the works of Averroes and Avicenna, to which Dino del Garbo also made a major contribution. Francesco Petrarca (; 20 July 1304 – 18/19 July 1374), commonly anglicized as Petrarch (), was a scholar and poet of early Renaissance Italy, and one of the earliest humanists. Petrarch's rediscovery of Cicero's letters is often credited with initiating the 14th-century Italian Renaissance and the founding of Renaissance humanism. Pietro Da Tossignano
Pietro da Tossignano also known as Pietro Curialti (c.1350 – 8 April 1407) was a professor of medicine in Perugia and Bologna. He was born near Imola, and may have studied in both Bologna and Padua. At the University of Bologna, he is said to have studied under the prominent physician Tommaso del Garbo. He married young in 1372 to the wealthy daughter of the count Ruffini della Ragazza. Acquiring a diploma in 1376, he obtained a teaching position in Padua, where he won favor with the House of Carrara. But the position of professor of Medicine was granted to Jacopo Zanettini, and by 1378, Pietro had moved to teach at the University of Bologna. By 1386, he was granted Bolognese citizenship. He was required to provide two thousand Lire as a deposit for not leaving his employment. He was admitted to the ''Collegio dei medici'' in town.
