Thor's Echo
Thor's Echo (foaled February 19, 2002 in California) is an American Champion Thoroughbred racehorse best known for becoming only the second California-bred horse to ever win a Breeders' Cup race. Thor's Echo began racing at age two and in 2005 as a three-year-old he won the WinStar Derby. In 2006, he had an outstanding year, winning the Frank J. DeFrancis Memorial Dash Stakes and finishing second in both the Dubai Golden Shaheen and the Ancient Title Stakes. In his final start of the year, he won the most important race of his career, the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Thor's Echo's 2006 performances earned him American Champion Sprint Horse honors. A gelding is a castrated male horse or other equine, such as a pony, donkey or a mule. The American Champion Sprint Horse award is an American Thoroughbred horse racing honor. Created in 1947, in 1971 it became part of the Eclipse Awards program and is awarded annually to the top horse in sprint races (usually those run at a distance of under one mile). The ''Daily Racing Form'' (DRF) began naming an annual sprint champion in 1947. Starting in 1950, the Thoroughbred Racing Associations (TRA) began naming its own champion. The following list provides the name of the horses chosen by these organizations. Hollywood Park Racetrack
Hollywood Park was a thoroughbred race course located in Inglewood, California, about 3 miles (5 km) from Los Angeles International Airport and adjacent to the Forum indoor arena. In 1994, the original Hollywood Park Casino was added to the racetrack complex. Horse racing and training were shut down in December 2013 though the casino operations continued until a new state of the art casino building, the new Hollywood Park Casino, opened in October 2016. The track was demolished in stages from 2014 until 2016 and the area is now the site of a master-planned neighborhood in development named Hollywood Park after the former track. Nad Al Sheba Racecourse was Thoroughbred horse racing facility in Dubai, United Arab Emirates opened in 1986. It had a 2,200 m left-handed dirt race track and a left-handed turf course of the same distance. It operated from November through March and featured the Dubai International Racing Carnival and its Dubai World Cup Night. Nad Al Sheba Racecourse was demolished in 2009 following hosting the Dubai World Cup race, being replaced by Meydan Racecourse.
