Thomas Lewis Dodge
Thomas Lewis Dodge (July 19, 1816 – November 2, 1893) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented King's County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1882 to 1886 as a Liberal member. He was born in Horton, Nova Scotia, the son of David Dodge and Phebe Scott. In 1843, he married Sarah Harrington. Dodge married Harriet Amy Harrington in 1856. He was named to the province's Legislative Council in 1887. Dodge served as treasurer for King's County from 1870 until his death at home in Kentville Kentville is an incorporated town in Nova Scotia. It is the most populous town in the Annapolis Valley. Wolfville is a Canadian town in the Annapolis Valley, Kings County, Nova Scotia, located about northwest of the provincial capital, Halifax. The Legislative Council of Nova Scotia was the upper house of the legislature of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It existed from 1838 to May 31, 1928. From the establishment of responsible government in 1848, members were appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia on the advice of the Premier. Before Confederation The Legislative Council had its origins in the older unified Nova Scotia Council, created in 1719 and appointed in 1720, which exercised a combination of executive and judicial functions. Kentville is an incorporated town in Nova Scotia. It is the most populous town in the Annapolis Valley. As of 2021, the town's population was 6,630. Its census agglomeration is 26,929. History Kentville owes its location to the Cornwallis River which, downstream from Kentville, becomes a large tidal river at the Minas Basin. The riverbank at the current location of Kentville provided an easy fording point. The Mi'kmaq name for the location was "Penooek". The ford and later the bridge in Kentville made the area an important crossroads for other settlements in the Annapolis Valley. Kentville also marked the limit of navigation of sailing ships. Brenton Haliburton Dodge (March 4, 1847 – December 30, 1910) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada.
