Thomas Franklin Ahearn
Thomas Franklin "Frank" Ahearn (May 10, 1886 – November 7, 1962) was a Canadian businessman and politician. Ahearn is best known as an owner of the original Ottawa Senators National Hockey League (NHL) hockey club and a Canadian Member of Parliament. Life and career Ahearn was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of Thomas Ahearn and Lilias MacKay Fleck. His father was a prominent Ottawa citizen who owned Ottawa Electric and the Ottawa Electric Railway Company. He was educated at Kent Street Public School, Ottawa Collegiate and privately tutored. Around 1900, he organized the Buena Vista hockey team which played on an open-air rink at Laurier Avenue and Bronson, with an old streetcar for dressing facilities. Frank Nighbor
Julius Francis Joseph "Pembroke Peach" Nighbor (January 26, 1893 – April 13, 1966) was a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played primarily for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey Association (NHA) and National Hockey League (NHL). He also played for the Toronto Blueshirts of the NHA, Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA), and Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. Nighbor won the Stanley Cup once with the Millionaires and four times with the Senators. Ottawa (City of) () was a federal electoral district in the province of Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1935. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867. It consisted of the city of Ottawa. After 1872, two MPs represented this electoral district at any one time. Gordon Cameron Edwards
Gordon Cameron Edwards (12 November 1866 – 2 November 1946) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Thurso and became a lumber merchant. The son of John Cameron Edwards and Margaret Cameron, and a nephew of William Cameron Edwards, he was president of Ottawa-based companies W.C. Edwards and Company Limited and Edwards Lumber and Pulp Limited. His brother Cameron Macpherson Edwards would also be President of W.C. Edwards and owned Harrington Lake (now retreat of the Prime Minister of Canada). He was also president, vice-president and director of various other firms. He was elected to Parliament at the City of Ottawa riding with fellow Liberal Edgar-Rodolphe-Eugène Chevrier in the 1926 general election. 7 Rideau Gate is the Canadian government's official state guest house for very important dignitaries, such as visiting heads of government or other high-level officials. The house is located in Ottawa, Ontario, near other official residences such as Rideau Hall and 24 Sussex Drive. Due to ongoing renovations at Rideau Hall, 7 Rideau Gate served from October 2017 as a residence for then Governor General Julie Payette, who resigned on January 22, 2021. History The house was built in 1862 for Henry Osgoode Burritt, an Ottawa woollen mill owner. Burritt sold the house in 1873, for the sum of $10,000, to Philemon Wetherall Wright, who named the house 'Edgewood' in acknowledgement of its location (then) at the edge of the town. The Hockey Hall of Fame (french: Temple de la renommée du hockey) is a museum and hall of fame located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Dedicated to the history of ice hockey, it holds exhibits about players, teams, National Hockey League (NHL) records, memorabilia and NHL trophies, including the Stanley Cup. Founded in Kingston, Ontario, the Hockey Hall of Fame was established in 1943 under the leadership of James T. Sutherland.
