Third Way (Andorra)
Third Way (Catalan: ''Tercera Via'') is a conservative political party in Andorra formed by the Lauredian Union and former members of the Liberal Party. The party is led by Josep Pintat Forné. History The party was founded at the end of 2018 to contest the 2019 general election. The party is formed mainly by the Sant Julià de Lòria-based Lauredian Union and members of the Liberal Party who left the party in 2017. It received support from the Virtus Unita Fortior group, as well. The Liberals of Andorra ( ca, Liberals d'Andorra, LA) is a conservative-liberal political party in Andorra. It is a member of the Liberal International and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. History The party was established as the Liberal Union () in 1992 by Marc Forné Molné. Josep Pintat Forné
Josep Pintat Forné (born 31 August 1960) is an Andorran politician. A member of the General Council from 2015 to 2023, he was formerly a member of the Lauredian Union (UL) and led the Liberals of Andorra (AL) to second place in the 2015 election. He founded the Third Way (TV) in 2018, leading them to fourth place in the 2019 election. Biography Born in Sant Julià de Lòria, Pintat is the son of Josep Pintat Solans and cousin of Albert Pintat, both of whom served as prime minister of Andorra. He graduated in Economic Sciences from the University of Barcelona, and has worked for companies in Andorra's petrol and tobacco industries. As of March 2019, he is married and had sons aged 30 and 26. Pintat was his hometown's councillor in charge of finances from 1988 to 1991, and was its mayor from 2004 to 2007 and 2008 to 2011. 2019 Andorran Local Elections
The 2019 Andorran local elections were held on 15 December, to elect all councillors in the seven parishes of Andorra. Electoral system Voters elected the members of the municipal councils (''consells de comú'' in Catalan). The Electoral Law allows the municipal councils to choose their numbers of seats, which must be an even number between 10 and 16. All city council members were elected in single multi-member districts, consisting of the whole parish, using closed lists. Half of the seats were allocated to the party with the most votes. The other half of the seats were allocated using the Hare quota (including the winning party). With this system the winning party obtained an absolute majority. The ''cònsol major'' (mayor) and the ''cònsol menor'' (deputy mayor) will be elected indirectly by the municipal councillors after the election. Albert Pintat Santolària (; born 23 June 1943) is an Andorran citizen, who served as the prime minister of Andorra from 27 February 2005 to 5 June 2009. Pintat graduated from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland in 1967, majoring in economics. Sant Julià de Lòria () is one of the parishes of Andorra, in the far south of that country. It is also the name of the main town of the parish, which at 908 m is the lowest settlement in Andorra. 2019 Andorran Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Andorra on 7 April 2019, electing all 28 seats of the General Council. Although they remained the largest party, the Democrats for Andorra lost their parliamentary majority after losing four seats. The Social Democratic Party gained four seats, becoming the second-largest party. The Lauredian Union ( ca, Unió Laurediana, UL) is a localist conservative political party in Sant Julià de Lòria, Andorra.
