Third Programme (ERT)
The Third Programme ( el, Τρίτο Πρόγραμμα, ''Trito Programma'') is the third public radio station of Greece's state broadcaster, ERT. The station's main program broadcasts are focused on classical music and culture. Since October 2018, the station is headed by Pantazis Tsaras. History It aired on September 19, 1954, with the initiative of author Dionysios Romas, two years after the founding of the Second Program. In its first days, it utilized a neglected transmitter and aired only three hours a day (7 PM to 11 PM). The station's success story, began after the fall of the dictatorship, during metapolitefsi, when Manos Hatzidakis, became the station's director. Under Hatzidakis' tenure (1975-1982), the program attracted the interest of people of all ages, including children. FM Broadcasting
FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). Invented in 1933 by American engineer Edwin Armstrong, wide-band FM is used worldwide to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio. FM broadcasting is capable of higher fidelity—that is, more accurate reproduction of the original program sound—than other broadcasting technologies, such as AM broadcasting. It is also less susceptible to Electromagnetic interference, common forms of interference, reducing static and popping sounds often heard on AM. ERA Sport
The ERA Sport ( el, ERA Σπορ, ''ERA Spor'') is the sports radio station of ERT. The station broadcasts 24-hour sports programs. The programme also included political news. ERA Sport is one of the most popular sports radio station in the country throughout its years of existence. The station was closed on 11 June 2013 following a government decision, but two years later, on 11 June 2015, ERA Sport re-opened. History ERA Sport was the successor of the station ERA4. In 1982, the politicization was renamed ERT2 and in 1987 the merger of two state broadcasting operators, renamed Fourth Programme and later ERA 4 radically changed the profile, transmitting music and some sports broadcasts. Dimosia Tileorasi
Public Television (DT) (originally as Greek Public Television (EDT)) was a temporary, state television broadcaster in Greece (up to the creation of the new public channels of NERIT). From 27 January 2014, the management of the DT has gone to the Board of NERIT, to operate the new, permanent broadcaster. Creation of the broadcaster In the morning of 10 July, DT started broadcasting on the television frequencies of ERT. The Deputy Broadcasting Minister Pantelis Kapsis in the same day, talked at a well known private TV station (from the old studios of Mega Channel in Paiania), pointed out that it was a matter of hours before of the start of broadcasting regular program and that the EDT would be broadcasting from a private studio. Manos Hatzidakis
Manos Hatzidakis (also spelled Hadjidakis; el, Μάνος Χατζιδάκις; 23 October 1925 – 15 June 1994) was a Greek composer and theorist of Greek music, widely considered to be one of the greatest Greek composers and one of the most globally recognised. His legacy and contribution are widespread among the works of contemporary Greek music, through the second half of the 20th and into the 21st century. He was also one of the main proponents of the "Éntekhno" form of music (along with Mikis Theodorakis). Second Programme ( el, Δεύτερο Πρόγραμμα, ''Deftero Programma'') is the second public radio station of Greece's state broadcaster, ERT. The station consists of Greek music and culture broadcasts. History The Second Programme originated on May 11, 1952 as a result of an attempt at an alternative music and entertainment program, to the First Programme. It was originally broadcast at 666 kHz, later at 93.6 MHz FM, and still later carried on Kosmos 93.6. The station program focused at the outset on Greek music but also on theater performances. In 1987 it was renamed ERA 2. Ten years later, in 1997, it returned to the old name. The second program, due to nationwide broadcast, was the top in ratings for musical radio in the region.
