Second Programme ( el, Δεύτερο Πρόγραμμα, ''Deftero Programma'') is the second public radio station of Greece's state broadcaster, ERT. The station consists of Greek music and culture broadcasts. History The Second Programme originated on May 11, 1952 as a result of an attempt at an alternative music and entertainment program, to the First Programme. It was originally broadcast at 666 kHz, later at 93.6 MHz FM, and still later carried on Kosmos 93.6. The station program focused at the outset on Greek music but also on theater performances. In 1987 it was renamed ERA 2. Ten years later, in 1997, it returned to the old name. The second program, due to nationwide broadcast, was the top in ratings for musical radio in the region. FM Broadcasting
FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). Invented in 1933 by American engineer Edwin Armstrong, wide-band FM is used worldwide to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio. ERA Sport
The ERA Sport ( el, ERA Σπορ, ''ERA Spor'') is the sports radio station of ERT. The station broadcasts 24-hour sports programs. The programme also included political news. ERA Sport is one of the most popular sports radio station in the country throughout its years of existence. The station was closed on 11 June 2013 following a government decision, but two years later, on 11 June 2015, ERA Sport re-opened. History ERA Sport was the successor of the station ERA4. In 1982, the politicization was renamed ERT2 and in 1987 the merger of two state broadcasting operators, renamed Fourth Programme and later ERA 4 radically changed the profile, transmitting music and some sports broadcasts. New Hellenic Radio, Internet and Television ( el, Νέα Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία, Ίντερνετ και Τηλεόραση) or NERIT (ΝΕΡΙΤ) was the state-owned public broadcaster for Greece from 4 May 2014 to 11 June 2015. The Hellenic Radio ( el, Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία; or ERA) is the main public radio broadcaster in Greece. Founded in 1987 as a subsidiary of public broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), it broadcasts four domestic radio channels and the international shortwave radio channel Voice of Greece. ERT1 ( el, ΕΡΤ1, "ERT Ena"), is a Greek free-to-air television channel owned and operated by state-owned public broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation ( el, EPT – Ελληνική Ραδιοφωνία Τηλεόραση). Kosmos 93 (russian: Космос 93 meaning ''Cosmos 93''), also known as DS-U2-V No.1, was a Soviet satellite which was launched in 1965 as part of the Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik programme. It was a spacecraft, which was built by the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, and was used to conduct classified technology development experiments for the Soviet armed forces. A Kosmos-2M 63S1M carrier rocket was used to launch Kosmos 93 into low Earth orbit. The launch took place from Site 86/1 at Kapustin Yar. Third Programme (ERT)
The Third Programme ( el, Τρίτο Πρόγραμμα, ''Trito Programma'') is the third public radio station of Greece's state broadcaster, ERT. The station's main program broadcasts are focused on classical music and culture. Since October 2018, the station is headed by Pantazis Tsaras. History It aired on September 19, 1954, with the initiative of author Dionysios Romas, two years after the founding of the Second Program. In its first days, it utilized a neglected transmitter and aired only three hours a day (7 PM to 11 PM). The station's success story, began after the fall of the dictatorship, during metapolitefsi, when Manos Hatzidakis, became the station's director. Digital radio is the use of digital technology to transmit or receive across the radio spectrum. Digital transmission by radio waves includes digital broadcasting, and especially digital audio radio services.
