Theodor Bull
Theodor Bull (1870 – 1958) was a Norwegian businessperson and genealogist. He was born in Kristiania as a son of medical doctor Edvard Isak Hambro Bull (1845–1925). He was a brother of theatre director Johan Peter Bull, historian and politician Edvard Bull and literary professor Francis Bull. Through Edvard Bull he was the uncle of historian Edvard Bull. He was also a nephew of military officer Karl Sigwald Johannes Bull, grandnephew of Anders Sandøe Ørsted Bull, great-grandson of Georg Jacob Bull and great-great-grandson of Chief Justice Johan Randulf Bull. In his professional career he worked as a wholesaler. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. Johan Randulf Bull
Johan Randulf Bull (29 April 1749 – 28 February 1829) was a Norwegian judge. He was born in Stod, as the brother of Johan Lausen Bull. He took the jurist examination in Copenhagen in 1778, and was a member of ''Det Norske Selskab'' there. He played the role figure "Mads" at the premiere of Johan Herman Wessel's satirical play ''Kierlighed uden Strømper'' in 1772. From 1802 he was County Governor of ''Søndre Bergenhus Amt'' (today named Hordaland). He was instrumental in organising the defence of Bergen during the war with Great Britain in 1807. In 1814, at the advent of Norwegian national independence, he was appointed the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway. The court was operative from 1815. He left in 1827. He died two years later in Larvik. He was the father of Georg Jacob Bull, who followed in his father's footsteps as Chief Justice from 1836 to 1854. Wilhelm Munthe
Abraham Wilhelm Støren Munthe (20 October 1883 – 18 December 1965) was a Norwegian librarian and author. He worked at the University Library of Oslo from 1903 to 1953. Personal life Munthe was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo) as the son of Olaf Andreas Jens Wilhelm Munthe (1851-1914) and Helene Andrea Støren (1857-1939). In 1917, he married Jenny Hempel (1882–1975). Career Munthe finished his examen artium at Oslo Cathedral School, Kristiania Cathedral School in 1902. He worked for the University Library of Oslo, University Library of Kristiania from 1903, first as a volunteer. He received the cand.philol. degree in 1911. Sigurd Segelcke Meidell
Sigurd Segelcke Meidell (20 February 1878 – 26 July 1968) was a Norwegian journalist, genealogist and novelist. Biography He was born in Bergen as a son of sea captain Hartvig Segelcke Meidell (1834–1902) and Malin Gohde (1847–1895). His father's family hailed from Kvinnherad, and his mother's family was Swedish. He was the brother of Fascist politician Birger Meidell. In August 1908 he married Nunne Thorbjørnsen (1885–1949). Meidell grew up in Hamar. He finished his secondary education in 1898, enrolled in law studies and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1905. From 1906 to 1908 he was a foreign affairs journalist and theatre critic in the newspaper ''Morgenbladet''. Norwegian Genealogical Society ( no, Norsk Slektshistorisk Forening, NSF) is a genealogical society in Oslo, Norway. It was founded on 22 October 1926 as the first exclusively Norwegian genealogical society. Among the founders were Stian Herlofsen Finne-Grønn, Christoffer Morgenstierne Munthe and Sigurd Segelcke Meidell. The two former had already published the periodical ''Norsk tidsskrift for genealogi, personalhistorie, biografi og litteraturhistorie'' since 1906; in 1927 the Norwegian Genealogical Society launched ''Norsk slektshistorisk tidsskrift'' as its official periodical. Their internal magazine is ''Genealogen''. The organization also runs a genealogical library. Georg Jacob Bull (born 1 August 1785 in Christiania, died 12 December 1854) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. He was a stipendiary magistrate (''byfogd'') of Bergen from 1810 to 1821. Edvard Isak Hambro Bull
Edvard Isak Hambro Bull (30 June 1845 – 5 June 1925) was a Norwegian physician. Personal life He was born in Bergen, Norway to physician Johan Randulf Bull (1815–94) and Theodora Josephine Marie Hambro (1818–49). In 1869, he married Gine Falsen (1846–1879). After her death in 1880, he married Ida Marie Sophie Paludan (1861–1957). He was the father of Theodor Bull, Edvard Bull Sr., Johan Peter Bull and Francis Bull. Career Bull graduated as cand.med. in 1868, and as dr.med. in 1875. Bull was an accomplished university teacher and a very active clinical researcher. He practiced as physician in Christiania (now Oslo) from 1870, and lectured at Rikshospitalet (now Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet). From 1889 he was assigned a position as the theater doctor at Christiania Theater, and from 1899 at Nationaltheatret until his death in 1925. Anders Sandøe Ørsted Bull
Anders Sandøe Ørsted Bull (13 September 1817 – 15 April 1907) was a Norwegian civil servant and government minister. He served as acting Minister of the Army in 1875 (twice), 1881 and 1884. He also served as mayor of Oslo in 1877 and 1878. Background He was born at Bergen in Hordaland, Norway. Karl Sigwald Johannes Bull (30 June 1860 – 27 December 1936) was a Norwegian military officer and politician for the Conservative Party. He is best known as the Norwegian Minister of Defence from 1910 to 1912.
