Theo Snelders
Theodorus Antonius Gerardus Snelders (born 7 December 1963) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Snelders was born in Westervoort, Gelderland. He started his career with FC Twente but is mostly remembered in Scotland, especially for his spell at Aberdeen following his move for £300,000 in summer 1988. A successful replacement for Jim Leighton, he had a very good first season at Pittodrie, winning the Scottish PFA Players' Player of the Year in 1989. He saved Anton Rogan's penalty in Aberdeen's penalty shootout win over Celtic in the 1990 Scottish Cup Final. After fracturing a cheekbone in a collision with Ally McCoist of Rangers in 1991, he was unavailable for the club's vital winner-takes-all match against the ''Gers'' in May of that year, with inexperienced understudy Michael Watt unable to prevent a 2–0 defeat. Westervoort
Westervoort () is a municipality and a town in the eastern Netherlands. The town has two rivers inside its borders, the Rhine and the IJssel. It is a commuter town closely linked to Arnhem, the capital of Gelderland, which is situated on the west bank of the IJssel river, the east bank being occupied by Westervoort. It is the smallest Dutch municipality by area. Transport On 11 December 2011, a new railway station was opened in Westervoort. This meant that for the first time in 75 years the inhabitants of Westervoort could make use of railway transportation again. 1989 Scottish League Cup Final
The 1989 Scottish League Cup Final was played on 22 October 1989 at Hampden Park in Glasgow and was the final of the 44th Scottish League Cup competition (Skol Cup). The final was contested by Aberdeen and Rangers for the third season in succession, with Rangers winning the previous two. Aberdeen won the match 2–1 thanks to a Paul Mason double. Lionel André Michel Charbonnier (born 25 October 1966) is a French football manager and former professional player who played as a goalkeeper. After retiring, he became a football manager and managed Aceh United of the Liga Primer Indonesia in the season before they folded along with their independent league. Charbonnier played for the AJ Auxerre side which won the Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France in the 1995–96 season under the management of Guy Roux. After eleven seasons with Auxerre from 1987 to 1998 he joined Rangers FC in Scotland, where he won the treble of Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup in his first season, 1998–99. They retained the League and Cup in his second season. He retired in 2002 after a season with Lausanne Sports of the Swiss Super League. Andy Goram
Andrew Lewis Goram (13 April 1964 – 2 July 2022) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Born in Bury, Lancashire, England, he started his career with Oldham Athletic and Hibernian, but he is best remembered for playing for Rangers during the 1990s, when he earned the nickname "The Goalie". In a 2001 poll of Rangers fans, Goram was voted Rangers' greatest-ever goalkeeper. Goram appeared in 43 international matches for Scotland and was selected for their squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, UEFA Euro 1992 and UEFA Euro 1996. After his time with Rangers, Goram played for many clubs, most notably at Motherwell and a brief loan spell at Manchester United. He also represented Scotland at cricket, and was the only man to play internationally for Scotland in both football and cricket. Brian Irvine (born 24 May 1965 in Bellshill, Scotland) is a former international footballer who played as a central defender for Falkirk, Aberdeen, Dundee, Ross County and managed Elgin City. He was capped nine times by Scotland. Career After working in a bank on leaving school, Irvine began his professional career with Falkirk in 1983, aged 18. During his spell with the ''Bairns'', he became an evangelical Christian. After two years and nearly forty league appearances at Brockville, Irvine moved to Aberdeen, the team he had supported as a child, for a fee of £110,000. Keith Wright (footballer)
Keith Wright (born 17 May 1965) is a Scottish football player and coach. Wright played as a striker for Raith Rovers, Dundee, Hibernian, Greenock Morton, Stenhousemuir and was then a player/manager at Cowdenbeath. He played once for Scotland, in 1992. He has since worked as a football coach for junior clubs and the Scottish Football Association. Career Wright began his career in 1983 with Raith Rovers and achieved nearly a goal every two games during his time at Stark's Park. In December 1986, Wright moved north to Dundee, where he won the Challenge Cup in 1991 before departing for Hibernian. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition.
