''The Wind in the Willows '' is a musical theatre, musical written by Julian Fellowes, with music and lyrics by George Stiles (composer), George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, based on the 1908 The Wind in the Willows, novel of the same name, written by Kenneth Grahame. The musical received its world premiere at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, Theatre Royal in Plymouth in October 2016, before transferring to The Lowry in Salford and the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. The following year the production transferred to the West End theatre, West End's London Palladium, where it was filmed for cinema broadcast. Background In December 2011, it was revealed that a musical theatre, musical adaption of the 1908 novel ''The Wind in the Willows'' was being worked on by Julian Fellowes with music and lyrics to be penned by George Stiles (composer), George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. George Stiles (composer)
George William Stiles (born 9 August 1961) is an English composer of musicals for the stage. Education From 1974 to 1979, he was educated at Gresham's School in Norfolk. Stiles studied music at Exeter University, where he met his writing partner Anthony Drewe. He graduated in 1983. Collaboration with Anthony Drewe For more than 30 years, Stiles has worked with the lyricist Anthony Drewe. Together they have written eleven shows (see below). Projects currently in development include: ''Soap Dish''; an adaptation of Graham Greene's ''Travels with My Aunt''; and a new project with the director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Tutankhamun ''Tutankhamun'' was first performed at the Northcott Theatre and Imagination Buildings in 1984.
