The Shopping Channel (New Zealand)
The Shopping Channel is a New Zealand 24/7 Infomercial channel which is broadcast on Sky satellite. The company was founded in 2010 and went live on 1 October 2012. The Shopping Channel was owned by entrepreneur Greg Partington and is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. History In April 2011, NZ government-owned national broadcaster Television New Zealand announced that it would be discontinuing its commercial-free 24-hour news and information channel TVNZ 7 from July 2012, which was utilising freeview digital channel 7 at that time. Greg Partington commenced negotiations with Television NZ to have The Shopping Channel broadcast on the same channel once TVNZ 7 had been closed down. However an agreement was not reached, and Partington subsequently took the concept to SKY TV. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. TVSN (an acronym for "Television Shopping Network") is an Australian and New Zealand broadcast, cable television and satellite television network specializing in home shopping. It is owned by parent company Direct Group Pty Ltd, a home marketing and shopping company based in the Sydney suburb of Frenchs Forest, which also owns sister channel Expo. The channel broadcasts live every day from 08:30 to 21:30 AEST. History TVSN began broadcasting in 1995 from their Lane Cove, Sydney headquarters. It was soon listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1999 after sustaining some growth. Mike Puru (born 20 August 1975) is a New Zealand TV host and former radio DJ. While previously working at radio station The Edge from 1995 until 2015, Puru then hosted the first two seasons of ''The Bachelor New Zealand'' on Three. Fiona McDonald
Fiona Maude McDonald (born 1965) is a New Zealand pop singer and television personality. Singer McDonald's first involvement with music came through singing jingles for Auckland student radio station bFM. From that work she was asked to join Auckland band Diatribe which also included musician Greg Johnson. In the early '90s she teamed up with former bFM producers Mark Tierney and Paul Casserly who were looking for a singer for their new studio-only group, Strawpeople. McDonald also briefly sang live with NRA, and provided guest vocals on the Headless Chickens on "Cruise Control". Reaching #6 in the charts, "Cruise Control" proved to be so popular that she was asked to join the band full-time. Extra is an Australian free-to-air television channel launched on 26 March 2012. It broadcasts mainly infomercials, religion, community, educational, multi-cultural programming as well as stories taken from Nine Network programs including ''A Current Affair'', '' Getaway'', ''Today'' and ''Today Extra''. TV4ME
4ME was a digital advertorial datacasting service that launched on 18 September 2011 by Prime Media Group and Brand New Media. It was formerly available to homes in the Prime7/GWN7 viewing area on channel 64, and the Seven-owned viewing area on channel 74 unless you were in an overlap market like the Sunshine Coast, in that case 4ME was both on channel 64 and 74. The channel was closed at midnight on 30 April 2016 in regional areas after Brand New Media entered administration due to business troubles. 4ME later ceased broadcasting in Seven-owned areas on 19 May 2016.
