Veikko Huovinen
Veikko Huovinen (7 May 1927 – 4 October 2009) was a Finnish novelist and forester. As a novelist, his writing was known for its realism, pacifism, sharp intellect, and peculiar humor. He wrote 37 books, and one of his best-known humorous novels is '' The Sheep Eaters'' from 1970. One of his books, the 1980 novel ''Dog Nail Clipper'' was adapted into a critically well-received 2004 film of the same name. Early life Huovinen was born in Simo, Finland. When he was six months old, his family moved to Sotkamo, where he lived until his death. As a child, Huovinen was known as well-mannered, yet he had a reputation for outlandish stories and occasional mischief. He went to high school in Kajaani, but his studies were interrupted in 1944 when he served as a volunteer AA gunner in the Finnish Army. ''Veitikka - A. Hitlerin elämä ja teot'' is a pseudo-historical black humor novel written by Veikko Huovinen. Its opening suggests that it is a product of original research into the personal history of Adolf Hitler, undertaken to dispel the myths concerning Hitler and attempting to understand his motivations in beginning the Second World War. However, the novel is in fact an elaborate mockery of Hitler, using numerous false documents in order to tell an absurd history of the dictator. A Finnish word ''veitikka'' of the novel's name literally means "little rogue" or "little rascal". Rosvopaisti (Finnish lit. “robber’s roast”; sv, Rövarstek) is roast meat cooked in a cooking pit. It is said to have Mongolian origins and to have become generally known through Veikko Huovinen’s novel ''Lampaansyöjät'' ('' The Lamb Eaters''). Rosvopaisti can be made with almost any meat: lamb, mutton, pork, bear, reindeer, elk etc. The pit, preferably soil of sand or clay, is about one metre long, 70 cm wide and a half metre deep where stones or bricks are heated up for several hours. The meat is wrapped in layers of dampened parchment paper, newspaper and aluminium foil. The coals are pushed aside and placed upon the meat parcel(s) at the bottom of the pit. Then the coals are covered with another layer of soil. A fire is started on top of the meat on the ground to ensure proper temperature. Kai Lehtinen (born Kai Antero; 31 July 1958, in Kerava, Finland) is a Finnish actor best known for his work in the Finnish TV-series ''Raid''. Lehtinen originally began as an athlete and competed in the decathlon with a personal best of 6,265 points in 1981. He then became interested in acting in the 1980s and began his career in 1989 appearing on a mini TV series. He appeared in 6 episodes of the 1993 television series ''Viimeiset siemenperunat'' and in 1994, he appeared in the Finnish film '' Aapo'' alongside actors Taisto Reimaluoto and Ulla Koivuranta. In 1996, he appeared in the short TV movie '' Aatamin poika''. Lehtinen is also credited with directing and writing several films. Pyynikki Summer Theatre
Pyynikki Summer Theatre ( fi, Pyynikin kesäteatteri) is an open-air theatre operating in Tampere, Finland, known especially for its revolving auditorium. It is one of the largest summer theatres in Finland and has been running uninterrupted longer than any other open-air theatre in the country. The theatre was founded in 1948 and was originally named Tampereen kesäteatteri (Tampere Summer Theatre). It started operating in Joselininniemi, on the shore of the lake Pyhäjärvi, where the performances continue to be held until today. In 1955 the name of the theatre was changed to Pyynikin kesäteatteri. The theatre increased its popularity throughout the latter half of the 1950s.
