The Salad Way
''The Salad Way'' is the third studio album by English band Salad, released in August 2019 by 3 Bean Records. It is the band's first album of new material in 21 years since ''Ice Cream'' (1997). Donald Ross Skinner, the producer behind the band's previous album, became their drummer after working with Marijne van der Vlugt and Paul Kennedy under "Salad Undressed" since 2016. They were also joined by Charley Stone, former guitarist of Gay Dad. Salad is a UK-based alternative rock group formed in London in 1992, whose initial line-up was Dutch vocalist/keyboardist Marijne van der Vlugt, guitarist Paul Kennedy, bassist Pete Brown and drummer Rob Wakeman (ex-Colenso Parade).Strong, Martin C (2003) ''The Great Indie Discography'', Canongate, , p.952-953 In 1996, Charley Stone (later of Gay Dad) joined the band as a live guitarist, keyboard player and backing vocalist. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". ''Mojo'' is a popular music music magazine, magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom, initially by Ascential, Emap, and since January 2008 by Bauer Verlagsgruppe, Bauer. Following the success of the magazine ''Q (magazine), Q'', publishers Emap were looking for a title that would cater for the burgeoning interest in classic rock music. Marijne Van Der Vlugt
Marijne van der Vlugt (born 6 October 1965 in De Meije) is a Dutch musician, former model and MTV Europe VJ. She is the daughter of Dutch actor Bram van der Vlugt. Marijne started her career as a VJ for MTV Europe Central from London in the early 1990s and hosted such shows as Alternative Nation (every Wednesday from 23:00), and the fashion show ''The Pulse with Swatch''. She also often did the voiceovers for the night-time videos and her voice was used in some MTV adverts. After MTV Central decided to close down pan-European broadcasting from London in 1997, MTV Network Productions went regional. MTV began offering channels for individual countries, like MTV Italy, MTV Germany, MTV France, MTV Sweden and MTV Russia. Marijne van der Vlugt's career as an MTV presenter ended at that point. Charley Stone
Charley Stone is an English multi-instrumentalist musician based in London, UK. She has been a notable part of the London indie music scene since the early 1990s. History Charley Stone first came to notice in short-lived riot grrrl band Frantic Spiders, from Exeter, who released EP ''You're Dead'' in 1993; she also played in Toxic Shock Syndrome. Stone then joined Britpop band Salad in 1996. In 1997 she replaced Charlotte Hatherley on guitar in the band Nightnurse after Hatherley left to join Ash. In 1998 Stone joined Gay Dad as guitarist and also first played live with Fosca, as she would continue to do over the next decade. Stone also joined Linus as bass player. Gay Dad were an English rock band that formed in London in 1994 and broke up in 2002. The line-up of the band has included Cliff Jones (guitarist/vocalist), Nick "Baz" Crowe (drummer), James Riseboro (keyboardist), Nigel Hoyle (bassist) and Charley Stone. Musical career Early history Gay Dad were formed in 1994 by former ''Mojo'' and ''The Face'' journalist Cliff Jones and art magazine publisher Nick Crowe (drums), along with their Berkshire teenage friends Dominic Stinton (vocals), Tim Forster (keyboards), and bassist Nigel Hoyle, who had originally played in a band called Brutus with Stinton a year or two earlier. Donald Ross Skinner
Donald Skinner is a guitarist, songwriter and producer primarily known for his work with Julian Cope. Skinner is commonly known by the name Donald Ross Skinner with the addition of the middle name of ''Ross'' attributed to him by Cope after Glenn Ross Campbell, the pedal steel player from The Misunderstood. He is currently a guitarist for Love Amongst Ruin and DC Fontana.
