The Reinactors
''The Reinactors'' is a 2008 documentary film directed by Dave Markey about the lives of film character impersonators and celebrity look-a-likes on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The film was well received by critics and audiences during its world premiere at the 2008 Rotterdam Film Festival, going on to screen around the world at various film festivals. The documentary also aired on Canada's Super Channel in September and October 2009. The DVD was released in the United States September 2009 by We Got Power Films. Filmmaker Spike Jonze is cited in the film's marketing calling it "A strange and tragic portrait of a dream that lives on one square block in Hollywood, and kind of in our whole country, too." Dave Markey
David Markey (born December 3, 1963 in Burbank, California, United States) is an American film director. Biography As a self-taught filmmaker and musician, David Markey directed, produced, edited, and photographed most of his films, the majority of which have been self-funded. His work is also noted as documenting the punk scene in Southern California throughout the 1980s, growing to find a larger audience in the 1990s while continuing to produce work throughout the 2000s and 2010s. Markey has worked with Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Mudhoney, Redd Kross, Bob Mould, Circle Jerks, The Ramones, Black Flag and the Meat Puppets. Markey made his first film in 1974 at the age of 11 with his father's hand-wound 8mm Brownie camera, cast from the children of his Santa Monica, California neighborhood. Curtis Matthew "Curt" Kirkwood (born January 10, 1959) is an American musician, best known as the guitarist, singer and primary songwriter for alternative rock group Meat Puppets. Biography Curt Kirkwood formed the Meat Puppets along with his brother Cris on bass, and drummer Derrick Bostrom. The trio went in a hiatus in 1996 after a long career where the band became hailed as one of the premier and innovative indie bands as well as briefly achieving mainstream success in the early 1990s. Devo (, originally ) is an American rock band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Their classic line-up consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers.
