The Quickening (The Vandals Album)
''The Quickening'' is the fifth studio album by the southern California punk rock band The Vandals, released in 1996 by Nitro Records. Much of the album is characterized by themes of nihilism and teen angst, but presented with the tongue-in-cheek humor for which the band is known. Both the band and the album attracted increased attention due to their involvement with the film '' Glory Daze''. The Vandals recorded several songs for the film's soundtrack, including the main theme, and the soundtrack album was released on their Kung Fu Records label that had been started by guitarist Warren Fitzgerald and bassist Joe Escalante earlier that year. An independent music video was filmed for the song "It's a Fact" and two versions were released: one with clips from the movie and one without. Because drummer Josh Freese was not available due to other commitments, regular substitute Brooks Wackerman appears in the video as the band's drummer. Recording labels Several studios were ...

The Quickening is the eighth album by Kathryn Williams and her first on the One Little Indian record label. The album was released on 22 February 2010. The Quickening (Jim White And Marisa Anderson Album)
''The Quickening'' is a collaborative studio album by Australian drummer Jim White and American guitarist Marisa Anderson, released May 15, 2020, by Thrill Jockey. The album was recorded between Portland and Mexico City. Background The album was first announced March 11, 2020, along with the release of lead single "The Lucky". The song features Anderson playing a guitar she bought from a Mexico City luthier on a whim. Later singles "Gathering" and "Pallet" were released together on April 29. The former is said to "harken back to Anderson's playing with the improv-heavy Evolutionary Jass Band, carrying a sense of perpetual motion", while the latter "is an abstraction of the old folk song "Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor", trickling out with molasses-like waves of subtle melody and brushwork." The idea of making an album together first formed while Anderson and White were touring together in 2015, Anderson playing solo while White played in his duo Xylouris White. They started b ...

The Album (Latyrx Album)
''The Album'' is the first studio album by Latyrx, an American hip hop duo consisting of Lateef the Truthspeaker and Lyrics Born. It was released on Solesides in 1997, and it was re-released on Quannum Projects in 2002. Critical reception Steve Huey of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, saying, "Enough people heard the record to make it something of an underground legend, but its potential influence wound up unfortunately limited, especially given how forward-looking the music on ''The Album'' is." He added, "its key tracks are nothing short of visionary, making it an essential listen." In 2015, ''Fact A fact is a datum about one or more aspects of a circumstance, which, if accepted as true and proven true, allows a logical conclusion to be reached on a true–false evaluation. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scient ...'' placed it at number 67 on the "100 Best Indie Hip-Hop Records of All Time" list. Track listing References Externa ...

The Empire Strikes First
''The Empire Strikes First'' is the thirteenth studio album by American punk rock band Bad Religion, released on June 8, 2004. The album is heavily influenced by the then-current Iraq War (most notably in the songs "Atheist Peace", "Let Them Eat War" and the title track) and also has some nods to George Orwell's novel ''Nineteen Eighty-Four'' (the song title "Boot Stamping on a Human Face Forever" as well as the line "you deserve Two Minute Hate" in the title track are direct references to the book), the latter most likely inspired by the Patriot Act. The album also marks the rare instance that non-members of Bad Religion received a writing credit, as Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music co-wrote two songs. The song "Social Suicide" appears in the video games ''Tony Hawk's Project 8'' and ''MX vs. ATV Untamed''. Release On February 4, 2004, ''The Empire Strikes First'' was announced for release in a few months' time. On March 17, 2004, the album's artwork and the track listing we ...
