The Ocean (also known as the Ocean Collective) is a German progressive metal band started in 2000 by German guitarist Robin Staps. Loïc Rossetti has been the band's vocalist since the 2010 albums '' Heliocentric'' and ''Anthropocentric''. History The Ocean was founded in 2000 by guitarist and songwriter Robin Staps. During the following two years, about 40 musicians joined and left the band until a stable line-up was established. July 2002 saw The Ocean play their first concert at Berlin's now defunct semi-legal Eimer Club. Shortly after, the band released their eponymous demo ''Islands/Tides'', a 30-minute-long song that also constituted the substance of their early live shows. Ocean (band)
Ocean was a Canadian gospel/soft rock band formed in 1970 in Toronto, Ontario. They are best known for their 1971 single "Put Your Hand in the Hand", penned by Jeff Jones and Gene MacLellan. The single sold over one million copies, earning a gold disc in the United States from the Recording Industry Association of America, on 3 May 1971. The single peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and reached No. 4 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary chart. The song was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2006. Background Ocean consisted of Greg Brown (vocals, keyboard), Jeff Jones (bass, vocals), Janice Morgan (guitar, vocals), Dave Tamblyn (guitar), and Chuck Slater (drums). Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal/rock band from Stockholm, formed in 1990 by lead vocalist David Isberg. The group has been through several personnel changes, including the replacement of every original member; notably Isberg in 1992. Intronaut is an American progressive metal band from Los Angeles, California, that incorporates complex polyrhythms, progressive rock, and jazz. History Intronaut formed in 2004, and their initial line-up included guitarist/vocalist Sacha Dunable, guitarist/vocalist Leon del Muerte, drummer Danny Walker, and bassist Joe Lester. War from a Harlots Mouth is a German metalcore band from Berlin, formed in 2005. Consisting of vocalist Nico Webers, guitarists Simon Hawemann and Daniel Oberländer, bassist Filip Hantusch, and drummer Paule Seidel, the band is noted for a distinct musical style consisting of infusing many different genres into their songs, such as math metal, death metal, and jazz. Nate Eight Newton (born October 9, 1975) is the American bassist and backing vocalist of the hardcore punk band Converge, the rock band Cave In, and he plays guitar and sings in Old Man Gloom and Doomriders. Newton was also a guitarist and vocalist in Jesuit and bassist in Cavalera Conspiracy Newton was a vegetarian for several years, before he returned to eating meatball sandwiches. ''Aeolian'' is the third album by the German metal band The Ocean. It was released on 7 March 2006 through Metal Blade Records. About ''Aeolian'' is the second part of a two-CD project that started with ''Fluxion''. Whereas ''Fluxion'' had a focus on atmosphere and orchestral sounds, ''Aeolian'' focuses more on the band's hardcore and metal influences.
