The NeverEnding Story
''The Neverending Story'' (german: Die unendliche Geschichte) is a fantasy novel by German writer Michael Ende, published in 1979. The first English translation, by Ralph Manheim, was published in 1983. The novel was later adapted into several films. Plot summary The book centres on a boy, Bastian Balthazar Bux, an overweight and strange child who is neglected by his father after the death of Bastian's mother. While escaping from some bullies, Bastian bursts into the antiquarian book store of Carl Conrad Coreander, where he finds his interest held by a book called ''The Neverending Story''. Unable to resist, he steals the book and hides in his school's attic, where he begins to read. The story Bastian reads is set in the magical land of Fantastica, a place of wonder ruled by the benevolent and mysterious Childlike Empress. Ralph Frederick Manheim (April 4, 1907 – September 26, 1992) was an American translator of German and French literature, as well as occasional works from Dutch, Polish and Hungarian. Atreyu is an American metalcore band from Yorba Linda, California, formed in 1998. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. ''Bayside'' is the second album by American rock band Bayside. Background and production In December 2004, the band posted "Existing in a Crisis (Evelyn)" on their PureVolume profile; that same month, they supported My Chemical Romance for two shows. They played a few East Coast shows, and appeared at the South by Southwest music conference, leading up to the recording of their next album. ''Bayside'' was recorded at Sheppard Music in New York City in March and April 2005, with Shep Goodman and Kenny Gioia acting as producers and engineers. The pair also mixed the album, before it was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side in Tenafly, New Jersey. Vetusta Morla is a Spanish indie-rock band originally from the city of Tres Cantos located near Madrid, Spain. The band was formed in 1998 and took its name from the giant old tortoise Morla, a character in the children's book ''The Neverending Story'' by Michael Ende. "Vetusta" means "extremely old" or "decrepit" in Spanish. Indie rock is a subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s.
