The Malls, Basingstoke is a shopping centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England built between 1978 and 1981. History and development Before The Malls were built, the site was occupied by a number of small residential and commercial properties and by the clothing factory of Gerrish, Ames and Simpkins. These properties were demolished in 1967 as part of a major redevelopment of central Basingstoke, which aimed at providing a large, modern shopping centre. Because of financial constraints however, what had initially been conceived as single development was divided into three parts at an early stage; ''Phase one'', later renamed The Walks, ''Phase two'' which would become The Malls and ''Phase three'' which was eventually considered superfluous and used instead as the site for '' The Anvil'' concert hall. Basingstoke ( ) is the largest town in the county of Hampshire. It is situated in south-central England and lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon, at the far western edge of The North Downs. It is located north-east of Southampton, south-west of London, 27 miles (43 km) west of Guildford, south of Reading and north-east of the county town and former capital Winchester. Basingstoke And Deane
Basingstoke and Deane is a local government district and borough in Hampshire, England. Its primary settlement is Basingstoke. Other settlements include Bramley, Tadley, Kingsclere, Overton, Oakley, Whitchurch and the village of Deane, some from Basingstoke. It is the northernmost borough of Hampshire, bordered by Berkshire to the north. The first Basingstoke Mayor, George Baynard, was appointed in 1641. The Anvil, Basingstoke
The Anvil is a concert hall and a performing arts centre in the town of Basingstoke in Hampshire, UK. Built on a site originally set aside for the third phase of Basingstoke's shopping centre, The Anvil was built to tackle what was then seen as a 'cultural desert' in the Basingstoke area. The aim of the project was to raise the profile of the Borough and to establish it as a major regional centre with a range of first class facilities. Camilla Sacre-Dallerup (born 6 April 1974) is a Danish author, life coach, hypnotherapist and former ballroom dancer. Dance career Dallerup was born in Aalborg, where she started dancing at the age of two and a half when her mother took her to her first class. She won the Danish Junior Championships at the age of 12. Dallerup later moved to London, United Kingdom, where she lived and competed with Brendan Cole, who also became her fiancé.
