"The Lineman," originally titled "Man, Go Man," is an instrumental composed by Ralph Dollimore. The best-known version of the song is a cover version that was produced by Sam Spence, which has been featured in many NFL Films highlights videos and documentaries. This song is also predominant in Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episodes of ''SpongeBob SquarePants'', usually playing in the title cards. The song was also played in ''The Simpsons'' episode "The Twisted World of Marge Simpson". It has also been played in an advertisement for the PlayStation JAMPACK demo discs. Sam Spence
Samuel Lloyd Spence (March 29, 1927February 6, 2016) was an American soundtrack composer best known for his work with NFL Films. His music has also been in the EA Sports ''Madden NFL'' football video games and many football-related commercials. Biography Spence was born in San Francisco and attended the University of Southern California. In 1966, while working as a music instructor in Munich, he was hired to score the mini-documentaries that conveyed National Football League highlights and personalities to fans in the network-television era. His music cues, combined with the voices of announcers Pat Summerall, Tom Brookshier, Charlie Jones, John Facenda, and Harry Kalas created the trademark style of the NFL's sports highlights films. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy are a duo of fictional characters in the American animated television series, ''SpongeBob SquarePants''. They were respectively voiced by guest stars Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway, who both previously starred in the 1960s sitcom ''McHale's Navy''.
