''The Happiness of Grinzing'' (German: ''Das Glück von Grinzing'') is a 1933 Czech musical film directed by Otto Kanturek and starring Iván Petrovich, Gretl Theimer and Alfred Gerasch.Goble, p. 274 It was produced in German and several of the cast and crew had recently left Germany following the Nazi takeover there. It was shot at the Barrandov Studios in Prague. The film's sets were designed by the art director . A separate Czech-language version, ''In the Little House Below Emauzy'', was also shot at the same time. Such multiple-language versions were common during the early years of sound film before dubbing became more widespread. In German-speaking parts of Czechoslovakia it was released under the title ''Das Häuschen in Grinzing''. An operetta film, a popular genre during the decade, it is based on the 1911 operetta ' which used melodies by Joseph Lanner (1801–1843). Otto Kanturek
Otto W. Kanturek (27 July 1897, Vienna – 26 June 1941, Cawston, Norfolk, Cawston, Norfolk) was an Austrian, later Czechoslovakia, Czechoslovak cameraman, cinematographer and film director. Life Having trained at the Graphischen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna and, after a voluntary internship for Gaumont Film Company, Gaumont Newsreels, he became an assistant film cameraman with them in 1912 and the following year received a post with producer Erich Pommer in Paris, filming newsreels for Pathé, Gaumont and Eclair (camera), Éclair. In 1914 he went to Milan to work for Milano-Film, then in 1915 to work with Sascha-Film in Vienna and with Alexander Korda in Budapest. During the First World War, he made his debut as chief cameraman and in 1916 he was conscripted and was seconded to the special photographic services in the military. Dubbing (re-recording and mixing) is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production, often in concert with sound design, in which additional or supplementary recordings are lip-synced and "mixed" with original production sound to create the finished soundtrack. The process usually takes place on a dub stage. Willy Bauer (actor)
Willy Bauer is a German former professional motocross racer. He was one of the top racers in the Motocross World Championships of the early 1970s. In 1973, as a member of the Maico factory racing team, he battled the reigning world champion, Suzuki's Roger De Coster for the 500cc world championship. The title chase went down to the final race in the Netherlands, when Bauer had a mechanical breakdown, losing the championship by two points. After falling to sixth place in the 1974 500cc world championship, he signed a contract in 1975 to race for the Suzuki factory racing team in the 250cc class. Bauer ended the season in third place behind Harry Everts and Hakan Andersson. Bauer moved back to the 500cc class with the KTM factory racing team in 1976 and placed tenth in the world championship. Grinzing
Grinzing () was an independent municipality until 1892 and is today a part of Döbling, the 19th district of Vienna. Wien.gv.at webpage (see below: References). Geography Location Grinzing lies in the northwest of Vienna and, with an area of 613.52 hectares, is the largest suburb in the district of Döbling. To the northeast, it borders on Josefsdorf; the border continues along the Wildgrube and the Schreiberbach stream towards the east, where it branches along the Springsiedelgasse and the Neugebauerweg to the south. The border then runs along the Hungerbergstraße to mark the boundary to Unterdöbling, before following the course of the Kaasgraben, which divides Grinzing from Sievering in the east. Joseph Lanner
Joseph Franz Karl Lanner (12 April 1801 – 14 April 1843) was an Austrian dance music composer and dance orchestra conductor. He is best remembered as one of the earliest Viennese composers to reform the waltz from a simple peasant dance to something that even the highest society could enjoy, either as an accompaniment to the dance, or for the music's own sake. He was just as famous as his friend and musical rival Johann Strauss I, who was better known outside of Austria in their day because of his concert tours abroad, in particular, to France and England. Lanner had a lesser-known son, August Lanner, who was just as musically gifted and prodigious as his father, but whose budding career was cut short by his early death at age 20. His daughter Katharina became a well known international ballet dancer, settling in London where she became an influential choreographer and teacher.
