The Cheese Special
''The Cheese Special'' is a 1913 American silent short comedy film featuring Max Asher and marking the film debut of Louise Fazenda. The scenario was written by Allen Curtis, but the identity of the director is unknown. It was the first production released by the newly formed Joker productions, as part of the Universal Film Manufacturing Company. The film is presumed to be lost and there is no published synopsis of the film. Known production details state that it was shot on a beach resort and used a miniature train. The film had a wide release and was reviewed by '' The Moving Picture World'' as a low comedy suited for the burlesque theaters. Plot No known script or plot of the film has surfaced, but the highlight of the film was summarized in the ''Corsicana Daily Sun'' as "a roaring Joker comedy in which Dauntless Dan stops the train with one hand and rescues the heroine with the other while the villain hisses between his teeth." ''Leavenworth Times'' is an American daily newspaper published in Leavenworth, Kansas. The newspaper is owned by Gannett. Founded in 1856 by future United States Senator Robert Crozier, the ''Times'' claims to be the oldest daily newspaper in Kansas. Daniel R. Anthony, brother of Susan B. Anthony, bought the paper in 1871 and the paper remained in the Anthony family until the 1960s, even after Daniel Anthony shot and killed rival publisher R.C. Satterlee of the ''Kansas Herald'', in 1871 (he was acquitted at trial), and then was shot himself by rival editor William Embry of the ''Daily Appeal'' in 1875 (he survived). The ''Tulsa World'' is the daily newspaper for the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and primary newspaper for the northeastern and eastern portions of Oklahoma. Tulsa World Media Company is part of Lee Enterprises. The new owners announced in January 2020 that a corporate purchase was made of BH Media Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company controlled by Warren Buffett.
