The Bow (skyscraper)
The Bow is a skyscraper in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The 236 metre (774 ft) building is currently the second tallest office tower in Calgary, since construction of Cenovus' Brookfield Place; and the third tallest in Canada outside Toronto. The Bow is also considered the start of redevelopment in Calgary's Downtown East Village. It was completed in 2012 and was ranked among the top 10 architectural projects in the world of that year according to ''Azure'' magazine. It was built for oil and gas company Encana, and was the headquarters of its successors Ovintiv and Cenovus. Cenovus
Cenovus Energy Inc. (pronounced se-nō-vus) is an integrated oil and natural gas company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Cenovus was formed in 2009 when Encana Corporation split into two distinct companies, with Cenovus becoming focused on oil sands assets. In 2017, Cenovus purchased ConocoPhillips' 50 percent share of their Foster Creek Christina Lake (FCCL) oil sands projects and most of their conventional assets in Alberta and British Columbia, including the Deep Basin. Cenovus completed the acquisition of Husky Energy for C$3.9 billion in stock in January 2021. Sama Tower
The Sama Tower (also known as Al Durrah Tower or Al Durrah Tower II) is a skyscraper along Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The tower has 49 floors. Construction began in 2006 and was completed in late 2009. History The building was originally proposed as a supertall building named Al Durrah Tower II. The design was a twisting tower with more than 75 storeys for residential use, costing about US$140 million. This design was regarded as a major addition to the Dubai skyline, but at the same time, the height of the project was a concern to Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation. The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center is a two-level outdoor mix-used center that features a blend of entertainment, dining, and shopping venues located at the Howard Hughes Center in Westchester and adjacent to Playa Vista both Westside Los Angeles districts in the city of Los Angeles, California. The Edwardian era or Edwardian period of British history spanned the reign of King Edward VII, 1901 to 1910 and is sometimes extended to the start of the First World War. Centre Street is a major road in Calgary, Alberta, and defines the east and west halves of the city for the purposes of street addresses (i.e. NW, SW, NE, SE). Route description The main segment of Centre Street is an arterial road that extends from 9 Avenue S, at the base of the Calgary Tower in Downtown Calgary. The roadway passes through Chinatown, crosses the Bow River, to the Beddington Boulevard, after which it becomes a residential street and becomes unavailable to private vehicular traffic north of Bergen Crescent (the road continues, but it is only accessible to Calgary Transit and emergency vehicles). The road resumes immediately north of the "bus trap" at Beddington Trail, where it continues as Harvest Hills Boulevard. Bow River
The Bow River is a river in Alberta, Canada. It begins within the Canadian Rocky Mountains and winds through the Alberta foothills onto the prairies, where it meets the Oldman River, the two then forming the South Saskatchewan River. These waters ultimately flow through the Nelson River into Hudson Bay. The Bow River runs through the city of Calgary, taking in the Elbow River at the historic site of Fort Calgary near downtown. The Bow River pathway, developed along the river's banks, is considered a part of Calgary's self-image.
