Terry Medwin
Terence Cameron Medwin (born 25 September 1932 in Swansea, Glamorgan) is a Welsh former international footballer who played as a winger. Club career Medwin made his debut for his 'home town' team Swansea Town in 1951–52 and went on to make 148 Football League appearances for the Swans. Medwin moved to Tottenham Hotspur for £25,000 in May 1956. He scored twice on his debut in a 4–1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale in August 1956. And Medwin played for Spurs until 1963 when a broken leg forced his early retirement. During this period he scored 72 goals in 215 matches in all competitions and helped the club win the Double in 1960–61, and he also appeared for them in the victorious 1962 FA Cup Final. Swansea
Swansea (; cy, Abertawe ) is a coastal city and the second-largest city of Wales. It forms a principal area, officially known as the City and County of Swansea ( cy, links=no, Dinas a Sir Abertawe). The 2016 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2016 (stylised as UEFA EURO 2016) or simply Euro 2016, was the 15th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organised by UEFA. UEFA Cup Winners' Cup
The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). 1962 FA Charity Shield
The 1962 FA Charity Shield was the 40th FA Charity Shield, an annual football match played between the winners of the previous season's Football League and FA Cup competitions. The match took place on 11 August 1962 at Portman Road in Ipswich, and was played between 1961–62 Football League champions Ipswich Town and 1961–62 FA Cup winners Tottenham Hotspur. Watched by a crowd of 20,067, the match ended in a 5–1 victory for Tottenham Hotspur. This was Ipswich's first appearance in the Charity Shield while Tottenham Hotspur were making their fourth, having last competed for the trophy the previous season. Tottenham's Jimmy Greaves opened the scoring and Bobby Smith doubled his team's advantage before half time. The 1961 FA Charity Shield was the 39th FA Charity Shield. The match was contested on 12 August 1961 between double winners Tottenham Hotspur and a Football Association (F.A.) representative eleven. Tottenham won the match 3–2. In the 1960–61 season, Tottenham had become the first club since Aston Villa in 1897 to complete the Double, that is, to win the FA Cup and Division One in the same season. FA Community Shield
The Football Association Community Shield (formerly the Charity Shield) is English football's annual match contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup, then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture is recognised as a competitive super cup by The Football Association and UEFA. Organised by the FA, proceeds from the game are distributed to community initiatives and charities around the country. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981.
